Looking for PI-made holster

Good evening mga kababayan:

Any tip on where can I pick up a good belt/holster set? My daily holster needs a replacement. Its like more than 7 years old already; still holding up but the belt is pretty much beat up, malapit nang bumigay yung buckle.

I'll be home next month, might as well buy one. Ganito sana:

Hi VICARA:

Here's one of my M1911A1 holsters.. had it for over a year now
---it gets plenty of use, as I make sure I'm armed when I do
backyard gardening work at night (haha, only time I have to do it).

It's a three-position (four if you force it) leather holster.
Some pics I took when it was new, for baseline comparison re wear/tear:

OWB:

I'll try to post closeup pics later.
Pancit ang USB cables sa 'puter ko right now e.
;g

EDIT: Heto na. (nalinis tuloy nang 'di oras)
The IWB clip's rivet-head has lost its chrome, o:
Click the image to open in full size.

I like the fact that the holster's interior is lined with black velvet,
so I worry a little less about leather tannins corroding the pistol.
It offers very good retention but doesn't hinder a quick draw, and
has kept its shape despite repeated wetting and flexing
(sweaty gardening work nga, e) over the past year-plus. I even use it
as a high-rise holster for my BERSA Thunder 380, kapag nag-mamadali,
hehe! The IWB clip is very thick plastic, not steel.

I know where to get it for a reasonable price, but stock seems to be running out.
I can try to buy you one and then wait for your arrival
-- if you don't like it when you inspect the item, no problem:
I can keep it for a future 1911 purchase, hehehe...

There are so many places you can get a decent rig, mag-sasawa ka
talaga. Other BoGs can point you to them...

You can go to marikina and choose from the different makers there. My favorite "Uncle Tony Guiron". He can make you any holster you want. Sorry but I don't have the contact no. with me. Maybe some other BoGs have it.

Tony Giron aka Uncle Tony
Magnificent Leathercraft
A. Bonifacio Ave. Brgy. Tanong, Marikina City

His shop is right after (same side) Loyola Memorial Park, just before the dry cleaning shop and Shell gas station. His shop is very small, more like a hole in the wall and is just a 1-man operation.

Sometimes he has a habit of giving a delivery date, like for example, 1 week, and when you arrive to get your order, he will keep you waiting while he makes your holster on the spot, feigning lots of back orders they had to finish the week before! hahaha!

He has a lot of Catalogs of famous holster makers that he can copy for you. It is best to tell him that you'll just wait while he makes your holster. Name drop members of this forum and that you're also member of BoG so he'll give preferential treatment! Sabihin mo referral ka ni Oliver, Doc, Joji, Rommel, Alex, Mannix, etc! hahaha!

Cellphone no. (927) 291-9760

Normally he charges 350-650 pesos for a holster. Same price for the double mag pouch and the belt.

here are some examples of his work.

Click the image to open in full size.

There is another shop right across Loyola Memorial Park, Lordman. They also have lots of nice holsters going for the same prices.

Ang gaganda

sir horge and eyecutter,

Oh my, those are really good looking rigs. Thank you, big time sa mga tips. Now that you mentioned it, I might pick up too an IWB and pouch set. And yes, I carry too even in the house and yes, even when I'm working my lawn. Kaya nga laspag na yung belt ko. Yung kay eyecutter, parang Galco mga yun ah!. You say, Uncle Tonny can make one on the spot? Can I bring a Galco or Bianchi catalog and he can 'clone' while I'm waiting? Wow, thats amazing! In here, u have to wait for couple of weeks and its easily over $100.00 plus shipping.

How about shoulder holsters? Comes winter time and eveyday heavy suits/jackets, comfortable din and shoulder holster. I tried it before but nagpi-print sa likod palibhasa manipis and dibdib. Kaya lang medyo nababaduyan ako minsan, feeling ko pa rang si Bruce Willis sa 'Last Man Standing', heheheh. ;f Anybody using vertical shoulder holster for 1911?

Anyway, thanks again sa replies. I will visit those places for sure.

Rommel (casmot) and I browsed through the Galco catalog he had in his shop and picked the pancake holster and that's what he made us.

the black glock holster on the upper left is a mitch rosen copy, complete with a metal stiffener for the mouth part. i brought a print out for him to copy.

galeng panoorin ni tony while he makes the holsters. ang dami pang mga kwento.

infinity: i don't know if he already has a pattern for long dust pistols. i think you need to bring your pistol so he can measure it. he has a lot of airsoft pistols to use for his molds.

sayang kasi walang horse hide available dito sa atin. cowhide lang yata gamit niya.

Cowhide is just as good as horsehide(as per the experts). At one point, I almost ordered A VM-2 (Versa Max 2) from Milt Sparks. Buti ba lang hindi, papagawa na lang ako kay Uncle Tony.

horge, i like the idea of a velvet lining on your holster. By any chance, u can let me know where/who made yours? I bought 2 Galcos last year and it took couple of months and hundreds of presentations to loosen up. I finally gave up on the 2nd one; still too tight to my liking. The model is even an appropriate one: SOB (Small of the Back).

btw, i appreciate very much your offer of buying one for me and taking a chance if I will like it or not. For the first week, I'll be staying in brookside hills, cainta so if you're not in the neighborhood, baka mahirapan tayong mag-meet. But honestly, I like to meet you guys and the other BOGs. I've been lurking through all the past postings and came to admire your display of sensible and meaningful talk(posting, ranting, whatever u call it) on a wide spectrum of issues. And the way you express it! I'm making a wild guess here. Are you a writer by profession? an author? university professor? lawyer? politician? (oppss)
Anyway, I'm a BIG fan of yours! Baka hindi mo lang sinasabi, may libro ka na best seller sa National Bookstore.

Cowhide/horsehide

heres a segment from milt sparks site re: cowhide vs. horsehide:
_______
What is the difference between cowhide and horsehide?
One of the more notable properties of horsehide is its natural ability to repel moisture. This is due to the dense cell structure of the hide thus limiting its porosity. This natural ability to repel moisture makes it very useful for certain applications, particularly for use inside the waistband. Unlike with cowhide, horsehides non-porous nature reduces its ability to fully absorb the casing solution during the forming process, making it much more difficult to get good crisp detail of the weapon when molding around the gun. Also for the same reason horsehide tends not to absorb the dye and finishing materials as evenly making it in my opinion, somewhat inferior in that respect to good cowhide.
On the durability issue there has been much BS circulating on the mythical wear characteristics of horsehide. I will not argue that a well made horsehide holster will give you many years and possibly a lifetime of good service, but with proper care a good cowhide holster will last just as long.
Some of our holsters combine the use of both horsehide and cowhide, taking into advantage the desirable attributes of each material. So which material is better?? That is a personal preference issue. Where horsehide is available as an option, the choice is yours.

pwede naman lagyan ng metal insert sa holster mouth to keep it open like in an iwb.

yung mga holster ni tony meron din lahat velvet lining.

accdg. to casmot, he is thinking of getting a new holster made. yung kasing pancake style, high ride so medyo mabagal and mahirap bunutin compared to a straight drop holster. gagamitin daw niya for the upcoming armscor tactical match.

idol ko din si horge. a lot of the members in this forum will learn a lot from his posts, specially correct spelling, grammar and use of appropriate punctuations!

You don't need to, I sent him catalogs this year. Ang kapalit holster for my 1911. If you're going to wait buy meryenda, mura naman ang singil niya. It doesn't have to be fancy.

And word of caution, make sure you are dealing with Tony and not the son, Anthony. 3 mos na baka hindi pa tapos holster mo. And there's no such thing as pay in advance, pag balik mo hindi pa rin tapos. You'll just have to wait and sit with him.

3 months waiting is out of the question! Mas grabe na yan kaysa rito. The best is, if they have a display room/store where its like 'pick, pay and go'. What about other makers?

vega, can i mention your name when i see uncle tony? kumbaga, 'referred by' baka yung 3 months maging 3 hours na lang or less. Howz your holster? OK ba?.

PM sent.

You do not need to wait 3 mos, he will do it as long as you're there. Try calling him first para sigurado na pupunta siya. My holsters and belts are all ok. When I was back there I get to choose which part of the hide my holster should be cut. Pag bandang stomach malambot, pag sa likod naman matigas. Kelangan sa side kunin yung balat para tama lang. Not that there's anything wrong with his display but, mas maganda kung dala mo yung baril mo dahil yun ang padron niya. But if you have 1911, he knows it like the back of his hand.

And an extra tip, kay Mrs. Uncle Tony ka dapat malakas because once you get her confidence, siya ang magsasabi kay Tony na unahin yung order mo pag nakita ka niyang dumadating.

Another caution - mahirap mag-park sa lugar niya. Dati doon ako sa may laudrymat, I don't know if they are still open. Dinala ko lang minsan yung jacket ko para ipa dry clean.

Don't forget to buy pandesal, butter and coke. Or pizza...

edited to add - You mentioned other makers, sure you can go to them but the big difference with Uncle Tony is he is also an avid shooter so he knows what the shooter wants. He will do whatever request you want with your holster. Other makers are not even in their stores. Pili ka lang kung ano nag gusto mo then go. Unless nagbago na ang set-up nila.

you can park inside loyola or riverbank mall and walk maybe 50-100 meters to his place. you can have the leather rolled with designs like basketweave or fleur-de-lis. pati yung pag lagay ng design and hand boning ang galeng panoorin. parang ang dali-daling gawin.

i like the design of horge's holster, very versatile. owb, sob, iwb, cant forward/back.

is this offer still possible for me kapatid na horge? ;f
how much will be the cost of the said package(holster + belt + 2mag pouches)?
btw, my pistol is a commander(4.25")size single stack 1911 & my waist line is 38".
tsaka sana parehas na parehas ng design noong sayo but will be a lefty version, kalewete kasi ako(left handed mga kapatid ha at di sa asawa). tsaka black color also is ok kung meron.

just curious lang kung pwede pa, kasi i'll be getting some items also from JuDGe pagdating ko dyan. Baka pwede ko pa ma-ipahabol yung items ki JuDGe, tapos sa kanya ko nalang ibigay yung bayad.;f

advice nalang brother horge kung ok tsaka kung magkano presyo para ma confirm ko rin kaagad sayo. TIA

Urg... I'd assumed you weren't interested, so...
;g

...binitawan ko na yung reserved na right-and-left pair of holsters.
I don't think meron pa'ng stock ---baka after Holiday season na uli,
if ever. If you want, pahiram ko na lang sa iyo yung mas luma/bugbog
kong isa, dalhin mo kay Tony sa Marikina at ipa-copy on the spot.

ok lang horge, thanks anyway for the offer.
wala na rin kasi akong oras makapunta ki tony para ipa kopya yung holster mo. the tentative schedule of my flight going back to Manila is Jan. 10 & i'll be arriving there in NAIA at around 12noon or 1pm the following day Jan. 11, 05.
my connecting flight to cebu will be at 5pm that same day. kaya kapus talaga sa oras. Di bali bro i'll just try to check our local Gunstores nalang baka meron sila magagandang "ready to go" na mga leather holsters.
Kung meron man akong pasalubong sa BOG's ki JuDGe ko nalang ibigay.(yan ay kung meron ;f )

BNJ

If our "top shooters" say Uncle Tony's holsters are good, 100% reliable yan!

Problem, Marikina is too far from me, and parking..I once visited his shop though and parked inside Loyola Memorial..

You might want to try BNJ too. Ok din naman yung holsters and blets nya. Nonoy has been in the business for a period of time already. Though his shop is in Davao. What I do is to give him a picture of a desired holster/belt and meet him somewhere to pick up the order. Normally sa greenhills ang pickup point namin though sometimes somewhere near the airport just in time for the arrival of the package... Even my office belt sa kanya ko rin pina repair...(lumalaki kasi tiyan eh, kaya nasisira yung butas sa belt!
;f ;f ;f )

Give him a call (+63916 427 8700)

By the way, nice 1911, Kimber ba yan sir?
