DVD Labeling question
OK, I finally broke down and got a DVD recorder. A stand-alone system, not a PC based one. Anyhow, now that I've burned a few discs, I was going to print out some labels to ID them. I thought I read somewhere that I should only use the center-hub for labels on a DVD, rather than the whole surface area.
If so, I can't find a template on any of my label printing programs to just print the hub area. I suppose I could play around with the dimensions, but it would be easier to have the program do it.
Anyone know of a reasonable-priced program with the correct layout, or can I print out the larger label and apply it without trouble?

Yeah, I've got that program, but can't find the right template.

Something to think about ...
... if the label is not applied perfectly it can cause the DVD to be off-balanced and wobble in the player or DVD drive.
... DVD players generate a lot of heat and can melt the adhesive on the label leading to problems. (I've had labels that started coming off of music CD's)
Not all players have problems with labels but some won't play "labeled" DVD's. My company stopped labeling the DVD's we supply our sales department because of issues at some customer locations. Personally I print labels for my DVD cases and use a Sharpie to "label" the DVD.

The description says it'll print on ink jet printable CDs and DVDs. Have you found any that you had trouble with?

I have heard about the label problem and have experienced it myself. I'm a Sharpie kinda guy now, but I am very interested in the new lightscribe dvd drives.

Labels are frought with errors and jeopardize the quality and longevity of your DVDs.

OK. Just got back from Office Max, and brought back the Epson R220. $99, plus a $10 credit. Printed out a couple CDs, and they look pretty good!

Well, I found out that you definitely need to use the printable DVD's teh ink will smudge off of the std ones even after a week of drying time.
