Better platform for DVD & Music editing: Win or Mac?

Between a Windows and a Mac platform, which would be better for music and DVD editing, recording, mixing applications?

Obviously, I'm prepared to wait for the new MSFT 64 bit op system. And I'm prepared to wait for the Intel mac machines.

I do not now do these applications. I would like to get into the hobby, but am not sure which direction to take. I am neither pro windows, nor pro macintosh -- I hate them both [grin]. I now own and use both (Win98SE and Performa-like Mac clone).

I know I will need heaps of RAM and video RAM, aidio board, DVD burner, etc., plus the software to edit. I'm asking which machine family I should look at.

I will also need to continue to use PhotoShop and Quark on my new machine, whichever it is.

Any advice?

The Mac has long been king of audio/video editing, but a well equipped PC will work just as well. Apple's new dual dual-core processor (read: almost like having 4 processors) based G5 looks sweet though.
