That's why I always attend the gun safety seminar when I was still there. They discuss the major firearm parts.
Magazines are not allowed.
Barrels are considered FA under Philippine law.
Slides and frames are not allowed too.

The barrel is considered a firearm. And it's illegal. If your relatives that sent the parts are still permanent residents, their status can be in jeopardy if the illegal cargo is discovered.
The Patriot Act is so broad that fiddling with the Act could get you in serious trouble.
Not worth it.
Just my two cents.

US boxes ‘contain’ smuggled gun parts
THE Bureau of Customs (BOC) Port of Mactan authorities seized last week three cartons of smuggled gun parts from the United States.
Capt. Hernando Anonas Jr, chief of the Customs police, said the shipment, weighing 52, kilos was seized upon its arrival from California last week.
Customs authorities do not know yet the estimated value of the illegal shipment.
Initial investigation conducted by Lt. Roberto C. Gines revealed that the illegal gun parts were consigned to Cerna Mindanao Co. Inc. It could not be established yet whether the firm is existing or fictitious.
Shipments from California were placed last week under surveillance after Mactan Customs authorities received information that a shipment of untaxed gun parts will arrive.
Gines, assisted by Calvin Bonaobra, Dominador Calibo, Jose Dayot and Ferdinand Laraga, found 350 pieces of Wolf precision load-rated recoil spring used for m1911A1 pistols in .45 and Super .38 calibers.
There were also 350 pieces of firing pin springs.
Port Collector Leovigildo Dayoja has issued a warrant of seizure and detention (WSD) against the gun parts for violation of Section 2530 of the Tariff and Customs Code and Republic Act 8294 or the law on firearms, ammunition and explosives.
Gines also recommended the conduct of a formal investigation on the consignee represented by Customs broker Rachel Cabreros so all those responsible in the illegal importation could be criminally charged. (EOB)

Kung recoil spring bawal so most probably yung sight din bawal. I would say anything that is part of the firearm would be illegal. Accessories like holster would be fine.

I wouldn't risk shipping any gun-related item unless I have the proper documents. Saves you a lot of trouble. Besides, getting those permits can also be expensive for just a single item.
Buy it in the Philippines. There's not much difference in prices.

I think the rule of thumb is COMPONENTS are illegal but ACCESSORIES are ok. COMPONENTS are defined as parts that are integral to the function and operation of the firearm. Sights are somewhat in the grey area. They do not have a mechanical role but are required for the effective use of the gun. The ambiguity is magnified ten fold when it passes through customs.

Maybe your right Sir but merong issue about it beside IF its illegal. its the UNTAX shipment of gun parts. Maybe they also illegal but they are also untax, Kasi 350 recoil spring is not personnal use, common sense is they gonna sell the 349 of recoil spring, the parts now is considered as smuggled parts.
its also the same when your in vacation (japan for example) when you bring back lots of electronics like cellphone etc... they will stop you if brought more of it because its not for personal use anymore.

I disagree, for example:
15rounds G magazine cost 3,000php here while in the US will only cost $20 (*52.35)= 1,047php (at walang .40 29rounds magazine dito;f)
Kahit flashlight adaptor cost 1500php while in the US its only $10 (*52.35)= 523.5
If you include shipping cost from US to Phil around $6(*52.35)=314php mura pa rin.
not only gunparts and accesories but also electronics its cheaper to buy in the US (I think we all know that) share ko lng po, I need 512mb Memory stick duo for my CP dito cost around 5,500php. while sa US its only $50(*52.35)=2617.5 + shipping $6(*52.35)=314php TOTAL of 2931.5php (problem is the waiting period) about 2weeks to arrive using American Postal service...its worth the wait (by the way same brand dito at sa US, its a SONY)
Also I ask twinpine to get me night sights but its been 1month na wala pa rin...
I also ordered A&G from nashe last November 2005, until now wala pa rin...

Regarding the tax, yes you can get away from violating Section 2530 of the Tariff and Customs Code by bringing in a part for personal consumption only, but will you be able to get away from Republic Act 8294 or the law on firearms, ammunition and explosives.

I remember the fifth now, it's not part of the firearm...
5) Ammunition.

Kanina sa mall, pumunta ako sa nashe to ask about my order she said maybe next month andyan na.
I also ask about nightsights sabi nya wala silang stock, so I ask her (manager assistant) what if I will order sa US then e pa ship ko dito is it possible or legal?
she answered, its ok daw, kasi only 5 major parts daw ang hindi pwede
slide
barrel
frame
magazine
and Bullets
she also trying to convince me to buy walther G22 semi auto rifle .22LR for 31,500 kasi sale daw usually 40,000.
and she could help me get a Silencer if ever I want to
