Honda Fit
Due out this year. I'm in the market for a new Civic, but this gets better mileage and is a few grand cheaper. I don't care much for the looks, but it would be great for daily commutes.
My current Civic has close to a quarter million miles and just won't die. I'll probably keep it as a backup. Got to love Hondas.

Wow!
I have never been in an accident with a Honda, but I have heard they protect the occupants well.

I have an '02 Honda Civic Si with 120,000 trouble free miles. I won't buy an new Si because I need a hatchback. I wondered why Honda no longer offered one. Now I see they are going to have a new one from scratch. Doesn't look very sports oriented though. May have to settle for a VW Gti next. But not after another 120,000K next!

VW does a good job too. My buddy rolled his Jetta 3 times and it ended up on the roof. He pretty much walked away. Ever since then has sworn by VW safety.

If you like the Fit, also check out the Toyota Yaris. It's coming out next year also and it's the Fit's competition.

Yeah,
I was looking at the Yaris as well. I like the car itself, but I don't like the dash in the center of the interior. I like the instruments right in front of my face.

I also dislike the trend of the instrument cluster in the middle but is only done as a cost saving trend to facilitate easier manufacturing of left and right side drive vehicles
