Is it me or the guy didn't even get on the brakes at all? That car was pretty slow and deliberate in taking that left turn. Also, I wonder which country it's in. Doesn't look like the USA.

The car was wrong for not yielding, but the bike looked like he was really moving.

The name of the gas station is what thrown me off and don't those car models look unfamiliar too?

I disagree. The rider should have been scanning his horizon. Cages don't watch for bikes. There was plenty of time for the rider to have slowed down to avoid the accident. He was in Condition White.

Dude, did you watch the same video I did? It was an eternity from the time the driver started to turn and the bike hyperspeeded into it.

Yes, I do try to do better.

Most accidents are in the 10:00 to 2:00 range of the riders vision where the RIDER has the responsibility of watching and avoiding running into errant cagers.

1) He wasn't watching.
2) He was going faster than he could react (overdriving his ability to stop)
3) He plowed into the car instead of using some kind of evasive move.

He was Condition White (to steal a phrase from our CCW friends).

And frankly, to the rider, it doesn't really matter the cager got the ticket, does it?

Dude, Dude-

They both screwed up. The driver got the ticket, the biker got injured or dead.

Settle down ladies.....If I were investigating the accident I would attempt to determine the speed of the bike through skid marks etc...The car MUST yield the row to the bike when making a left hand turn. If the bike can be proven to be exceeding the speed limit, that is a CONTRIBUTING factor, but not neccesarely the cause of the accident. An exception to this may be if the bike were traveling at an extreme rate of speed, and crested a hill. If the car was unable to complete the turn because the bike wasn't visible, then the bike is at fault. Bikers shoud drive defenseivly (sp?), but that doesn't relieve the car of liability.

So, you think the bike was going faster than 30/35?

Looks like he was going double that-50-70mph.. If you look at the road it does look like he just came up from over a hill. ;g

Whose ever fault it was, the rider got the short end of the stick, right or wrong.
