Thanks. I still need to do some touch-up around the dustcover, though. Too many sharp lines from where I had to cover the SBR engraving, and too big of a grey patch on the upper and rail system. Nothing a few minutes with a paper towel and some nail polish remover won't fix, though.

Every time I see someone's paint job come out that good, I get about 90% convinced to grab my rifle and head out to the garage. Then I remember that I have zero painting talent at all, and it would indubitably look terrible.
Good job!

It was dirt easy. For tiger stripe like that, you just need a roll of 2" painter's tape from Wal-Mart, and spray paint in the color of your choice. I think Hour13 was the one that recently posted photos of how they did the same process. I didn't take in-progress photos, unfortunately.
Cover any surfaces you don't want painted (I'd suggest BUIS, optic - or remove it, grips, safety, and main markings). You can then tear down the edges of strips of tape for rougher edges, or tear up narrow strips, depending on how wide you want the stripes to be. Cover the areas you want to remain their current color with tape, and LIGHTLY hit the remaining areas with the spray paint. Going light makes it dry faster, and makes it easier to remove later if you hate it.
Touching up spots that you got paint on by accident is easy with some nail polish remover and a q-tip. You can use it for roughing up edges that came out too straight, too.

Wow plank that does look good, I bought all the stuff to urban camo one of mine including the urban tiger stripe template but just never got the guts to do it. I've done a lot of solid color duracoat, including fluorescent pink but i need to man up and just do it.

Lol, not exactly a super-cool Duracoat job, but I'm kinda digging it.
When it's completely cured, I'll hit it lightly with a scotch-pad, to knock the sheen down a bit more & to soften the edges.
Start to finish in under an hour, and I already had the paint & tape. So it didn't cost me squat.

Hows she's looking today. ^^^ Surprisingly, the finish is holding up pretty well to the abuse it's been suffering lately.

I disagree but I do like the Troys and have them on a couple of my others.
The rifle in the pic is the rifle I use in classes. It sees the most use of any of my ARs. Lets put it this way, if I was called back right now and given the choice this would be my primary weapon system. Exactly how it sits. Well, plus the low/no light gear I'd need to throw on it.

Lol, yes, yes it is.
No worries, I keep it safety off, nothing in the pipe. If I need it, yank the charging handle, she's GTG.
Kinda like the spray. If I need it, hit the remote elec bottle opener, purge, GTG.

Lol, I don't think it was a "safety" question friend. Cochese has quite the addiction to go-fast toys, as do I.
