It's pretty sad how people can say its gay and know NOTHING about the history of it. It's by far one of thee most effective martial arts system out there today. Proven time and time again in the octagon and cage matches all over the world. The blonde dude that said it was the gayest sport in the world would have an entirely different outlook if he went to a bar and tried to pick a fight with a Black Belt master like Royler or Helio Gracie. Even being in his 80's Helio would dominate that punk in under 15 seconds flat!

First off, the clip is hilarious, regardless of what martial art you study.

Second, I study no-gi BJJ.

Third you sound like all the other people that commented on the linked page. Why does it upset you. Why do you feel the need to defend the effectiveness of BJJ. The only reason I can think of is that you worship it, and it has become your cult. Thats the saddest thing of all.

Lastly,

"BJJ is by far one of thee most effective martial arts system out there today."

Effective for what. Fighting a single unarmed opponent who is not trying to permanetly maim you and you do not wish to maim him either? Your right. It absolutly is.

Multiple opponents? Armed opponents? Bloodthirsty opponents who want to rip out your throat and eyes? Not so effective.

Use BJJ when your trying to take someone prisoner. Use CQC when your fighting for your life.

Heres to hoping that you always wear good running shoes

(It upsets me because its like all other things, People who have no knowledge or education of the sport criticize it and bash it then the other idiots who watch it find humor in what they say!)

Well no **** sherlock, Not many martial arts are, You can take Royce Gracie-Frank Shamrock and Chuck Liddells skills all mixed into one and still not be able to take on 3 guys that know how to fight! This is where good running shoes come into place, Either that or get your teeth kicked in, stack up the medical bills and prove nothing except getting beat up by some wanna be thugs, Who think their tough cause it only took 5 of them to beat up a dude who didn't want to fight in the first place and was enjoying the views of the girls dancing in front of him!)

Use BJJ when your trying to take someone prisoner. Use CQC when your fighting for your life.

I don't need running shoes, I'm a true street fighter. I may not have a black belt in BJJ or be a world champion thai kick boxer but i can hold my own that's all thats needed! Cheers!

it is hard to fight multiple opponents no matter what style of martial arts you study.
I never said it wasn't.

The only time I was able to truly destroy multiple attackers is when I was able to use weapons such as pepper spray, chairs, garbage can ect...
Very excellent, sound tactic. Empty hands should always be a last resort. A Karate school motto once said "I come to you with empty hands" which is b.s. the correct answer is " I come to you with full hands you SOB"

Quote:
Also when you choke someone out that is the most effective fight stopper there is, at least for me.
You used an important word in that sentance. FIGHT. A fight is by definition, a mutual exchange. Can BJJ be good in a mutual force situation (assuming a lone unarmed opponent) Absolutely.

A fight is different however than a street attack, more aptly named an assanation attempt on your life. Its not a pissed off jock, or a drunk guy from the bar, this is a person on full adrenaline who doesn't wan't to leave you as a witness. It may seem like all the same to you, but there is a difference.

As an example, back in the 1990's Mike Tyson got into an altercation in a convenience store. He hit the other guy twice and RAN. Non stop, not looking back. Reflecting on the incident later, he said "I got scared, cuz i hadnt been in a street fight since I was a kid". Arguably one of the toughest sport fighters in the world fighting a single opponent, that he connected with two punches, yet he was scared. Why? he understood the realities of the street. Kill or be killed.

Quote:
Also for cobain 187 and others who dont think jujitsu works against the real baaaaad a** street fighters, muggers punks ect.. I would be interested to know what killer commando style you used the last dozen or so times you where attacked.
Again there is a huge difference between fighting and close combat. Fighting is trying to knock the guy out or stop him. Combat means killing him as quickly as possible. As a bouncer, did you kill the opponents that you fought? Did you train in ways of killing them or ways of fighting them? Of course you trained in fighting them, which is important, otherwise you would go to prison for a very long time for crushing the trachea of a drunkard not possing an imment threat of serious bodily injury to anyone.

(Speaking now out of the context of firearms)

Can BJJ and kickboxing/other sport forms be useful ? Absolutly. There are very useful for LOWER threat level altercations, where yes there is a struggle, but no, its unlikely that I will die. Sportfighting can help bouncers, police, etc people who NEED TO TAKE PRISONERS.

If your a citizen on the street, you don't have to take prisoners, either strike enough to break free, run, and/or both.

Prior to the to the 90's-current wussy occupying mindset, the U.S. military had NO USE for sport techniques, because soldiers don't take prisoners (unless they surrendered). Combat. Destroy the enemy. (destroying the enemy doesn't mean putting them in a americana)

As for my killer commando style ?
I train in two very different sets of techniques.

1. no-gi BJJ, for lower level threat situtations.
(i.e. my life is NOT in danger)

2. Close quarter Combat for high level threat situations and assanitation attempts
( when my life is in danger)

I use 1. to take somebody prisoner.

I use 2. to take someones life.

And it can get even more complicated. An assanition could flounder apart. Or a fight may increase into an assanition.
Violence is chaos. Changing shifting chaos.

Different tools for different situations. DONT GET OFFENDED BECAUSE YOUR TOOL ISNT USEFUL FOR EVERY SITUATION. There are times when BJJ and restraining techniques are necessary. There are times when CQC is necessary. There are times that a .45 gold dot is neccesary. Any one of those three can't solve every situtation.

Understand the point ???

Different tools, different situations.

Holy scheit

I just reread your post and saw that line. Wow. Words fail me to describe the arrogance, stupidity, and insanity of what you just said. That you would never have a reason to run from an altercation.

Its ok though. I believe in natural selection. I am thankful when stupid people die, it prevents them from commiting other stupid actions or passing on their genes to the next generation.

Words fail to describe it because you cannot understand what it means to be a man with balls. You resort to being a computer tough guy which is fine. If the guy had a pistol then yes i would run, Would i run if some thug wanna be took a swing at me? Well Not Hardly! Just out of curiosity who do you train under? What's your schools name, instructors name? What's his ranking? What's your ranking? How long have you been studying? What titles does he hold if any? Also where are you from? City and state? I only ask this so i can verify that you actually train in the Art of BJJ! Etc.Etc. If you carefully re-read your own post it would appear you are the true dipshyt in this post. No self respecting jiu jitsu artist would think that a commercial calling the very sport he trains in as the gayest sport ever funny one bit. So what are you a fa%? Obviously either that or completely full of **** and don't train in bjj at all! Sorry dude i'm calling BS on your entire posts!

Hmm, I guess if you have balls then the law doesn't apply to you. My state requires a duty to retreat, pending certain exceptions. If you have a way to escape a fight, and you don't take it, THEN YOU ARE THE PROBLEM. Violent altercations have very serious legal, medical, and ethical issues and ramifications. Its not about macho bravado, being cool, or "being judged by 12 then carried by 6".

You stated

But you also said

Quote:

So...you just contradicted yourself. Thanks.

Well since you are not in a position of authority, nor do I respect you as a person, then I will not share my personal information.

However, I have studied Relson BJJ under a Brown Belt instructor for 1.5 years. This Instructor also trains soldiers and military students, as he is certified in the U.S. Army Combatives program.

Well first off I'm not a BJJ "artist". I study the techniques, and add what I find to be useful, and disregard techniques I don't like. I have no delusions of being an MMA fighter or such.

Secondly, I am not offended by someone calling BJJ gay. Why should it? What are the desecrating? My Samuari/Bushido code of honor? I care about the actions of other adults, not their harmless words or opinions.

You sound to me to be a person of very low self-confidence. BJJ helps to massage your very weak and very thin ego. It makes you feel like a BIG man. Do you get the same feeling when you strap on a sidearm? Does it make you aroused?

Deep inside, your a very scared person, so you cover up that fear on the exterior with bravado and insults to those you encounter. You think that you are tough. But in reality you are "mean" not "tough". There is a substantial difference, although it feels the same to you.

Hmm, I have faith in myself, my abilities, in my trusted friends, and in God above. I have courage, conviction, and principles that I would die for. Life to me is a journey that I am boldly exploring. *checks self* OH, and my testicles are intact.

Expressing a logical, thought out opinion is being a tough guy hiding behind the net? Thought provoking.

Hmm. No. I am a decent, caring human being and completely heterosexual.

You give a very bad name to both groups. You are obviously a very immature person who doesn't understand that retreating/avoidence is one of the biggest aspects of "self-defense". You do not have the intelligence to legally and ethically use a firearm, and I pity that the media would paint all of the fine residents of Ohio who carry as a person such as yourself.

Thats ok. Life has called BS on you representing an intelligent life-form.

as far as the original post:

i do Judo, my buddy does BJJ. we thought the clip was hilarious.

bunch of guys in loungewear, rolling around on the ground and humping eachother? yeah, pretty gay. still fun though.

as far as fighting:

get whatever training you can. hope something works when the incident actually goes down. past that, it's all dick-swinging.
