I did tank training at Ft. Knox. 1964 (the year they shoot some scenes for the movie Goldfinger). Then went to Germany and was never assigned to a tank. The only track vehicles I drove was a M577, and a M114. I was a member of The 2nd ARC.

I was a CAV Medical PSG with the NE Army National Guard. I can't tell you how much time I spent at Ft. Riley at the David C. Douthit (I hope I got that right) gunnery range up north in the past from 1985 to 2001.

No, but I have driven the M1, rode inside, and dried my wet gear with the engine a few times.

The engine is a great cooking area. Coffee, Ramen Noodles, even heating up MREs. I remember the 11 B guys who loved it when my platoon was attached to their company. Meant they would always have a place to dry things out.

Hey, I used to heat my coffee water off an M1 exhaust when we had a tank platoon attached, does that count?

We;; I was Master Gunner qualified in M60A3's back in the late 80's. 1/37 Armor, 1st AD. We were the last to qualify the 60's in Germany, and transitioned to the M1A1 in January of 87.
I was qualified at all positions in the 60, but only driver and gunner in the M1. Still that's not bad considering I was the Mait Team NCOIC.
Still, between DAT's and CDAT's the biggest diference is in the costs incurred.
