First drive of spring (pics)

I haven't driven my Lotus in almost 5 months. Feels great to have it on the road again.

Hey isn't that the car in Pretty Woman? Nice ride, it always amazed me how they could get so much horsepower out of a 4 banger.

The hooker was correct. The Esprit SE in the movie was a 4 cylinder. However all cars, like mine, from 1997 to the last in 2004 had twin turbo V8s.

Not yet. I'll probably never put it on a track, but I plan on getting it dynoed at some point. After I get the race ECU, of course.

Yeah, I love turbocharged engines as well.

Do you have an Esprit? If so, which year?

Nothing wrong with a Supra.

I like Supras of all years. Plus, unlike so many sports cars these days, you don't see 10-15 each day. In fact, they're fairly rare.

I'm getting an aftermarket performance exhaust for my Esprit and eventually a race ECU. At this time, the only thing I've done to improve performance is install two K&N air filters. I'm not into speed as much as I was when I was younger. I more or less just cruise these days.

I had a 944 turbo years ago that I moded for performance. That thing was brutally fast. I wish I still had it because it was an awesome car in every way.

Well - you don't see "jellybeans" as much. They're the newer Supras - 4th generation (think Fast and Furious). Amazingly you see 3rd gens like mine and 2nd gens a lot more than you'd think. You probably just don't notice them. At least that's the way it was for me up until I got my Supra and started paying attention.

My Supra is my baby and I've done some work to her. She rolled out of the factory as NA, but thanks to a '91 donor car she was overhauled and converted to turbo, Intercooler to differential. Obviously when I was swapping I rebuilt and did some internal work. This summer should see me with a new clutch, driveshaft, flywheel, cat-back exhaust, SAFC tuning computer and some dyno time.........no wonder I'm poor

I've always kinda liked the MkIII Supras, probably because they look a lot like Fox bodies. Sounds like yours is in pretty good shape; surprise many people with it?

MKIII's not really - but even I'll confuse a MKII at first glance for a Fox body.

Yeah I surprise some people with my car. Especially since she's an NA shell with no badges or wing (stock on turbos). Nothing better than spooling up and letting the BOV go off in some ricer's window
