Nope. Most of the police and especially our military personnel here in the Phils. use fmj's because that's their issued ammo.

+1.
Just make sure your pistol will like it before using it as defensive rounds.

Police Departments issue hollow points to prevent over penetration during gunfights. More often than always, we confront one BG at a time.

The idea is to kill more than one enemy with one bullet hence military ball.

Hollow points ang carry/home defence ammo ko.
PTT/ PTC doesnt specify kung anong klase ng bala ang pwede mong dalin o gamitin , (no of rounds lang di ba).

Ideal kase hollow point coz nag ma mush room yung dulo when it hits something prevents over penetration (sabi nga ni Sir JT)di tatagos ng dinding and less chance of ricochet(banda)
pag nag mushroom effective and stopping power , bulagta(bagsak) agad tatamaan.

sa stronghand sila ang nagreload using imported brass and hornady xtp heads so parang imported na rin pero mas mura. imho buy at least 15 rounds na imported hallow point para puno yung isang mag. i use the remington golden saber as carry load for my glock 17.

HP on Glock 23

mga sir .40 caliber na hollow point hindi ma dumihin sa barrel ng glock, kasi ako pinaka-iiwasan ko residue sa barrel ko.

Sa PB dionisio... May Winchester Ranger (imported) pa ata for 45cal, 40cal n 9mm... Mga P60 ata each. I wouldnt mind spending a bit on my self defense ammo. Besides, i think its better to use brand new ammo than reload for self defense. Just try at least 50 rounds of your intended ammo para sure na wala problema sa baril mo. After doing so, i dont think you'd be changing your carry ammo too often.

of course not. even civilians can buy/use hollow points.

With my 45, Ive been carrying it with JHPs and even the glasers, so JHP for civilians are ok. Btw, I just wanted to ask, are the reloaded xtp ammo from stronghand or other locally loaded JHP ammos good for defense ammo? Has anyone really compared its velocity with those loaded direct from winchester factory if the velocities have been identical at the very least?

been doing this on my old carry P13 pero a friend of mine said that it's better keeping one mag of JHP and one mag of FMJ instead. can anyone comment on this? tnx.

My personal opinion only, all your mags should have the same kind of ammo. This is for consistency of shot. I wouldnt want to feel a "do-re-mi" when Im firing. For defense, I dont see the point of having FMJ as personal defense load actually. A good JHP should be good enough.

I think his main purpose is to shoot through a barrier by using the fmj ammo. I don't really think it's a good idea.
