HELP! About to buy a Glock

Dear sirs,

Good morning.

Requesting comments on the following:

1. Does Glock 35 qualify in IPSC standard division?
2. I notice that not too many people use Glocks (Glock 35 particularly) in local competitions? Why is this?
3. Relatedly, is Glock 35 an accurate and reliable gun for competition?
4. Can the Glock 35 be used in IDPA?

I am double-checking these because someone is convincing me (and I am about to be convinced) to purchase a brand new Glock 35 at this gunstore for P48k.

Thank you for your time and advices.

Yes

I think the disadvantage of the Glock in Standard would be the trigger pull. Although there are already some upgrades in the states that can emulate a 1911 trigger pull. Mahaba ang trigger pull ng glock, mahaba rin ang reset, kaya mas mabilis kalabitin ang 1911 kaysa Glock.

3. Relatedly, is Glock 35 an accurate and reliable gun for competition?
Yes

4. Can the Glock 35 be used in IDPA?
Yes

wait for PB Dionisio's 50th anniversary sale this June or July. Take a look at the hi-cap SPS .40 cal pistols.

yes sir, g35 is an accurate and reliable gun for ipsc standard. Medyo lugi lang sa magazine capacity. I've used one for more than a year and wala kahit isang malfunction.

if youve used 1911's extensively, it takes some time to get used to the long trigger feel(slack) and mushy trigger feel, if its your 1st gun, no problem, youll get get the hang of it after a few dry firing sessions, i like my 35, its accurate, reliable and fits my big hands well, still, nothing beats a well tuned 1911 trigger,

sir accurate and reliable ang glock 35 but i would suggest that you get a high cap 1911 if you're going to compete in standard division. medyo lugi ka kasi sa glock 35 sa capacity and trigger pull. try a 3.5 pound trigger pull on a glock and a 3.5 pound pull on a 1911 and you will see what i mean.

Thanks guys.

Ok, the G35 is reliable and accurate.

There are still 2 concerns though (re competitions):

1. Trigger pull. I see that 1911s have the edge here.

2. Mag cap. What should be the optimum mag cap for the standard division? And how does this factor in the competition proper? Shouldn't we be able to change mags? (So sorry for my ignorance)

Thanks a lot and looking forward to your advices.

PS: Which has a stronger felt recoil, a 45 or a 40? Because I have a Glock 21. Maybe I should use this for IPSC standard, for the time being.

mag capacity of hi cap 1911's
STI-SVI-SPS 17-18rds, jasonub was able to modify his mag to hold 19 rds of .40 cal ammo
ParaOrd - MecGar 18-19rds.

the heavier the bullet weight, the higher the muzzle jump, an up and down movement of the pistol's front end. the lighter bullet weights tend to slap your hands in a backward-forward impulse with a lower muzzle flip which gets you on target quicker.

felt recoil is subjective. others like the backward slap better than the up and down muzzle flip for faster follow up shots.

i use 200 gr heads and like them better than the 180 gr heads for my .40 cal ParaOrd P16-40

well, in a g35, it can hold 18+1 with an arredondo base pad and another +1 if you do some modifications on the follower, btw, correct me if im wrong, the 35 has a longer sight radius which helps in the accuracy dept.

Doc, may P16 ka na rin??? Your not using your P18 anymore? My mecgar for the P14 can only hold 12 rounds, hirap na ilagay ng pang 13th round, hirap pa ipasok kung ganun ka puno...

regards....!

Band of Glockers

Yup! Matagal na yun P16-40. Here's a group picture. ParaOrd P16-40, P18-9 LDA, My Imperial Defence Ranger 1911 - STI Trojan clone Single Stack .45, and Glock 26. Not in the picture is my SPS .38 super open pistol.

Wala na yung CZ 85B. Sold it already.

i can give you a 2lb. trigger easy... we dont even have to meet, ill just email you the parts you need and the instructions on how to install them, glocks dont need gunsmiths.

18, get an arredondo +3 basepad, that will give you 18, mag capacity doesnt really matter, jethro routinely wins with just 8 bullets in his magazine

yes you can, just to get a feel for things.

IMO the 1911's biggest advantage is weight, thats why i add all sorts of borloloy to my g22, that why im gonna talk to deenoh next gunshow and ask him if he can help me get a glock stainless STEEL frame

and another good thing bout 1911s, you can personalize it, unique to the user, but the advatage with glocks is, almost all parts are drop in, no gunsmithing needed, you can go to the range, use your 2lb trigger, after an afternoon of shooting, replace it with your carry setup, voila, it only takes, 2 minutes.
