I Took Your Civil Rights Away
(Sung to the tune of Sinatra's "My Way")
And now, dear world, the end is near;
And we all face the final curtain.
My friends, I'll say it clear,
I'll state my case, of which I'm certain.
I've lived a life that's full (of **it).
but God told me that it was okay.
He said 'don't worry who gets pissed,
There's only black and white; there is no gray.'
Regrets, I'll leave them to you
But then again, I should mention...
I only did just what They said to do
I gave Them war and tax exemptions.
They always said, just stay the course;
never caring who else had to pay.
But more, much more than this,
I took your civil rights away.
Yes, there were times, I'm sure you knew
When I bit off more than I could chew.
But I never cared if there was doubt,
The Christian Right would bail me out.
I faced it all and I stood tall
and took your civil rights away.
I've loved, I've laughed and cried.
made Them a pile while you were losing.
And now, as all your fears arise,
I find it all so damned amusing.
You see my friends, I won't take the fall
for Katrina, Plame, Iraq and all.
Our money's gone, our gas his high.
because of me you're all gonna die.
To think I did all that;
And may I say - not in a shy way,
Your internet and cell phone calls
I hear your thoughts as well as what you say
You didn't watch, you didn't care
So I took your civil rights away.
So what's a Bush, what has he got?
but to blame someone else when he gets caught.
To say the things I truly feel;
and never care about what is real.
The polls may show that my approval's low
But I won anyway!
And so I say, God bless you all.
You'd better kneel and start to pray.
Korean nukes, Iran wants them too
They're scared of me and what I might do.
Your country's gone, what can I say?
You let me take your civil rights away!
