Spiders
I have spent the last 15 years of my life on a mission to destroy every single spider I come into contact with with the exception of daddy long legs and garden (banana) spiders. Why? Because I was bitten by a black widow and well, I just hate spiders now.
So, I have now spent over a YEAR hunting a spider to take pics of. No luck. It is like I have killed every single spider I would ever come into contact with or they run from me!
Recently, a garden spider appeared at the greenhouse but on days when I have gotten there with the camera, he is no where to be found. If I don't have a camera, he is out "sunning" himself! Yesterday, he was out but it was windy enough that his whole web was swaying so I didn't even try.
That is all. I just had to share my frustration with everybody.

Come to Silicon Valley in late September. You can photograph tarantulas. There are thousands of them mating. Here is one walking on my arm.

I like tarantulas. That's a good picture of a nice-looking one.

I have actually been threatening to go buy one! I figure as soon as the cats find him he would become a snack tho
It is cheating to use a tarantula for macro?

My cat wants nothing to do with them. My cat likes juicy birds that don't bite back.

Wait for baby tarantulas. They're quite small. The only problem is they're real fast, and they do not hang around long enough for you to set up your camera.

One of the cats sits by the door every time somebody goes in or out waiting and hoping for fresh meat. Another one does sometimes and the third is too content with what's in the bowl to care.
I have tried getting some shots of those beautiful blue tailed skinks but wow are those suckers fast

we have one every year to set up house in the same spot on our porch. it must be descendents of the original one from many years ago. they show up in late summer, build a beautiful web and make their little egg sacks.
