I got to attend the filming of one back in 1992 at Lackland AFB. At that point his health was failing him and he wasn't on stage nearly as long in person as they made it look like on TV. Lots of guest comedians and so on. It was still alot of fun for a homesick kid finishing his training.
I think with everything the man did for the military he was almost a saint. People in Hollywood could take leasons from one of the greatest entertainers of all time. Instead of planning the next protest or speach to "take up" for the enemy remember the troops there fighting for thier lives regardless of if you believe they should be there or not.
May poor ole Bob rest in peace with his heavenly reward for what his work meant to so many of our boys so far from home. You don't find nearly enough like him anymore.
Consider yourself lucky; I don't have a glass eye. If I did I would take it out and put it in a sock, and then beat you with it.
