Just acquired a second hand Remington 597 .22 LR suppressed rifle. Semi-automatic. Nilagyan ko ng Bushnell 3-9 x 40 Scope at naka-high mount para kita ang iron sights. Me problems lang sa magazine, kelangan laging malinis as in linisin mo after 50 rounds. Ok naman, kaya mag-one hole sa 25 meters. Di ko pa ma-testing nang malayuan eh, gun ban kasi.

pwede ba ang suppressed in CA? i thought CA had the most oppressive laws on firearms for a country that had a RKBA.

Very accurate talaga akin model 552..wala nga lang suppressor.

Hindi naman suppressed ang standard feature ng 597. After market yung suppressor ni poodle.

Sir, whats the prob after 50rnds? Does it jam? If the manual is still w/ you, pls check the specific instruction on how to load the rnds in the mag. It says the topmost rnd's rim must never be placed behind the rim of the rnd immediately below it. Otherwise, it will jam the rifle. Afaik, this model is very reliable and accurate and not very sensitive to dirty mags. Its only prob is its very heavy trigger pull. But Rem said they will try to improve the trigger on the later production run. Dont know if they made good their word on it. Hth.

Earlier mags were problematic. Remington replaced those with newer ones. There were discussions here at GT regarding those mags.

My 597 LSS (Laminated stock, stainless) is the earlier version w/ the plastic mag. As Ive posted earlier, if Im not careful in loading the mag, it will jam the rifle. I dont have the later version of the mag so I cant compare what improvements were made on this issue. As w/ the on and off accuracy issue, mine shot accurately for a thousand round rounds then suddenly turned innaccurate. After lots of investigation and sleepless nights, the culprit was the screw forward of the receiver at the bottom w/c holds the barrel to the receiver, turned loose. The irony of it was that the manual specifically instructed NOT to touch this screw! W/c made me took this part as the last probable prob. Another prob is its extractor w/c has the habit of coming out of its slot while firing. Since its spring loaded, most likely it will be lost. And last, the manual specified the amount of torque required for the stock screws when assembling. W/c means one has to always have a torque wrench when assy/disassy. of this rifle. Not very user-friendly!

i wanted at first to have a remington 597. it cost 18T if i remember right, 2 years ago. a few thousands more i can get a ruger, so i got one instead. You can just do about anything with a 10/22 including after-market parts to lighten trigger pull.

i still want to have a remington.

Ganun ang mag, yung puti. Ang bilis dumumi, wala pa 50 rounds madumi na. Nagka-problem din ako lately, biglang naging inaccurate. Di ko alam kung crown. Nung take down ko maluwag ang screw na nag-hold ng barrel sa receiver. Baka yun lang. Paano nga pala susundutin kung hindi puede tanggalin ang barrel sa receiver according to the manual? Sa harap ng barrel? Di kaya masira ang crown?

Magmula ng bunili ko yung Marin Bolt (2002) hindi ko pa nilinisan yung magazine.

Gamitan mo na lang ng snake bore para hindi masira ang crown. Labhan mo na lang pagkatapos gamitin para matanggal yung mga dumi sa snake bore. Hindi ko ginagamitan ng rod ang 22 kasi hindi pwede sa chamber ang pasok.

Yung Remmy 30-06 ang caliber.

PM mo si P-G kung paano ang paginis ng 597.
