How do I password protect a WiFi connection?

I have a friend who's neighbor was paying part of the bill so she could use the Wifi. She's since decided she won't pay anymore, but still uses the connection.

What's the easiest way to stop her access?

Turn on encryption. I don't care if it's ROT13 or AES, whatever the highest form of encryption your wireless can do.

Change your ESSID.
Make your access point NOT broadcast the ESSID.

Make it so only MAC addresses that are on your systems can connect.

All that should be in your user's manual and they're easy enough to turn on. Turn them on.

Or you could set your router's MAC filter to only allow access for the MAC addresses you specify. That's what I do and works great. Keeps out anyone besides the computers you wish. I tested it by physically plugging in a non-approved computer directly into my router and it wouldn't give access.
