Williamsburg Area Range Recommendation(s) Wanted

Folks,

Will be in Williamsburg mid October. Any ranges in the general area, that you recommend?

Thanks Alan

There is a nice indoor range in Newport News...just east of the 'burg. The Marksman There is also a free outdoor range just outside of Williamsburg on State property. I can never remember exactly where it is...I'm sure somebody will post it. Hope you enjoy your visit.

I think this is the range you are thinking about :

Not a bad range, but the hours are a little unusual.

I beleive the Chick range hours are dependent upon the availability of RO's. Can't shoot w/o 1.

I don't believe RO's are required at the Chick range. I have never seen one and a few times, I've been the only one on the range.

I have heard that there have been "problems", and that unsupervised shooting is no longer allowed, but that is just hearsay and so I defer to you...

The problems may have simply been because of use of the range when it was not open.

I haven't been since last August or September, so things may have changed. I know they have had a vandalism problem in the past.
