What is the area like? I'm interested in hotels, food, things like that.

I wouldn't stay at any hotel in Orange when you could stay at the Mayhurst B&B. A lot of history. The Norths have done a very good job restoring the place.
I haven't eaten there yet, but Elmwood at Sparks is supposed to be pretty good. Mario's Italian restaurant has a killer steak and cheese sub too. It's huge. El Vaquero is a pretty good Mexican restaurant.

The area is gorgeous. If you want to go skydiving there is a good local airport to practice the sport. Are you passing through, or something else?

My wife and I visited Orange a few months ago while researching my family history. Stayed at the Holladay House B&B, which was pretty nice.
Elmwood at Sparks is excellent!
