Last night at our weekly Pro 2A pow-wow and barber shop quartet rehearsal, I admitted that I am, some what, an AR gear queer. I do love the AR platform, so much so, that I cant stop building them and changing them around. I have tried many different set-ups and various components over the years. I am by no means an expert, and although I do like some of the fancy "gadgets" on the market, I still have some KISS M4 and A2 clones.

But for this thread I am only going to highlight my favorites. I am not going to give a breakdown of components, but if you have any questions, feel free to ask.

#1)My suppressed 9mm SBR, the most fun to shoot by far.


#2)My 10.5" 5.56 SBR, this is my SHTF AR.


#3)My 20" bull barrel varmint AR, this is currently being threaded for use with my AAC M4-2000 suppressor. (Yes, I know hunting with a suppressor is illegal, but I only intend to use the suppressor at the range.)


#4)My RECCE/Recon build, by far the most expensive of them all.


My next build will be a SBR'ed 458 SOCOM, it will be a while as I am only in the research stage at this time.

What brand of stubby VFG is that?

BTW I noticed your Prostar picture in the back ground. Are/were you into dragbikes and did you have one. My brother thinks he knows you.

The VFG is an ACE K-grip, it is available in aluminum and delrin. My favorite VFG by far, and I have tried them all.

As far as the motorcycle pic, that was my "stock wheel base" bike that went 9.10's in the 1/4. (That was many moons ago)

However, I "was" well known in the street racing scene, again, long ago. (If your brother asks some of the "old school" guys, most will remember the name "Big Craig". I was some what known for my custom N02 systems.)

I was FLATOUT's first employee, back when they were a "true" performance shop on the west side. One of the owners and I were long time friends, unfortunately, he was killed in an auto accident in 2005. (Bad memories, lets go back to AR porn.)

Why yes, and you shot it as well.

Now, if the powers that be, would allow me to bring the 5.56 SBR, you would get to try that one too!

I will ask him. My brother is more or less out of the bike scene as well now that he has a family (which also keeps him from getting too deep into the gun scene as well).

BTW sorry to bring it up.

I need to try one of those VFGs. Do you like Aluminum or plastic better? I have a Grip Pod GPS-02 on my AR right now which I have not tried out with live fire yet. It is pretty bulky, but the bipod seems it would be pretty handy.

sjstill, I will be more than happy to walk you through the paperwork. In fact, I have plenty of blank form 1's. Just let me know, perhaps, at one of the weekly Pro 2A/choir practice meetings. We have been looking for someone to pick up the slack singing the harmony's, as rhino has been letting us down in that area.

epsylum, I prefer the aluminum K-grip over the delrin model. My feeling is, is that the aluminum model wont be prone to heat degredation, I also believe that the aluminum has a better texture.

I've been resisting trying a vertical foregrip for a while, but over the weekend I was finally convinced to give one a try. So I ordered the cheapest plastic (ProMag) grip on the market from www.DSGArms.com . . . $11.50. The good news is that they got it to me by priority mail the day after I ordered. The bad news is that the same day it arrived, I got my sale flyer from www.MidwayUSA.com and it had the same part for $6.99!

I'm going to try it for a while. If I like it, I will get a more substantial part.

As have I but there is always 3 or 4 other things I want to. Living in Marion county I don't know how receptive Anderson is to signing those papers?

Mr. Anderson will sign, as he signed off on mine.

When you go down town to get the print cards done, take a SASE with you. Leave your form 1's with the ladies that did your print cards and after Frank signs them, they will mail them back to you.

It usually takes a week, before the signed off forms are returned.

Rhino, I'll have to let you try my new Surefire VFG at the next 3Gun. They're dandies, and they look cool too.
