Provo Corporate Games

Anybody else work in Provo and competing in the Provo Corporate Games pistol event? I thought I might try it out even though I have never done any kind of IDPA style shooting. Thought it would be fun.

I shot the Utah County Corporate Games a couple times a few years ago, even put on the match once.

How was it

Would you recommend it for a noob? Or try a RM funshoot or UDPL event first?

It's mostly noobies shooting, and the whole match reflects that, simple COF's, etc. Your typical shooter is a guy who has a pistol and shoots it twice a year and has never shot competitively. Lots of shooters appear to be using borrowed guns too. Those who take the trophies are the 2 or 3 experienced competitors, and they aren't necessarily that good (don't ask how I know this), but they can walk circles around the "shoot it twice a year" crowd.

You would have a better "lay of the land" if you shoot a RMU fun shoot first (or UDPL event), but it's certainly not required.

Its over a weeks time early next month. I think your company has to sign up for it and pay some participation fee.

Corporate Games update

Koski must be right. A few good people, the rest of us noobs. Had a great time. I ended in 4th place. So I was able to score some points for our company. Thanks for all your help, Steve.

P.S. The RM funshoots are a great time. I did one of those too!
