Indy Star: Dan Carpenter's Racism

Did everyone see Dan Carpenter's column May 9, 2007?

He describes Korean-Americans as "No, only those people are threats." (emphasis in original).

I have no idea why Dan hates Koreans so or why he believes that this racism will simply pass without igniting a firestorm.

"Good people. Manly men. As Michael Barone instructed us, Americans pass by carriers of concealed weapons every day, and "that's all right. Experience has shown that these people aren't threats."
No, only those people are threats. And someday, we may all have to decide which we are. See you at Don's."

I took it to mean that he believes that carriers of concealed weapons are threats.

Either way, Carpenter proves to be an idiot yet again.

I think it's rather transparent that he is talking about Korean-Americans. The column is about Virginia Tech.

Holders of "concealed carry permits" did not murder anyone at Virginia Tech. A man named Cho did (who held no carry permit) and this is who Carpenter sees as the threat. The Indianapolis Star should apologize for running such naked racism.

Very good! Perhaps if several of us started writing the Star asking why they would allow such racist comments to be printed from a regular contributor, that status (of regular contributor) might come into jeopardy.

The Asian American Institute in Chicago called me this afternoon. They will be looking into it.

If Carpenter thinks he's going to get a pass on this, he is mistaken.

First of all, I don't think he was implying that South Korean immigrants are the threat. He was just writing a very anti-gun article. That article was pathetic. Reffering to the State Parks as "edenic retreats" before they were sullied with gun-toting madmen. Another cheap shot: calling us "Manly men".

What a condescending pr*ck.

My second thought is, let's not be so damn hasty to go after these people because they say something "offensive". Because they are just waiting to go after the conservative media types. And they do it a lot better than us. Free speech is free speech. We shouldn't get mad at them for getting offended, and turn around and yell at them for offending us.

We are manly men!!!!!!

Indiana Glockers

and Carpenter is a complete moron, and likely would prefer all men to be effeminate, like him. Doesn't make him look as bad.

"Racism" is one of the ultimate crimes among the pseudo-liberal socialist-statists (aka "liberals" in the modern venacular).

There are few if any things you can do in that crowd that are worse by their standards, and being accused as we know, is a conviction and sentence among their ilk.

eric, I disagree. All is fair in love and war and using his racism to remove a threat to our RKBA is well within bounds.

rhino, yes, the accusation of racism is the evidence in LeftWorld.

Let's hope Mr. Carpenter gets his for insulting Korean-Americans.

"those people" indeed, Mr. Carpenter.

He's proven himself an idiot because of the statement "see you and Don's." If that's where he's culled his opinion of us no wonder he's upset. Smart license holders won't go there.
