It wasn't a smart ass reply, it was a helpful reply, implying that in the future you'd be well served to search first, and then if you can't find the answer, to ask.
And for the record, searching for 'pit' in the michigan section elicits a list of 12 (twelve) threads, barely half a page worth of search results.

Still sort of smart arse, IMHO.
Phunahm: "Hey, anyone know what time it is?"
10 Ring: "What am I, a clock?"
In less than the time it took to link to the search page, the answer could have been answered nicely in about 4 words. Let's be friendly. I just moved here from the East and thought mid-westerners were supposed to be nicer than the folks from around Philly? Sometimes, when I go to a book store, I first ask someone that works there where I might find a certain book, instead of wandering the store for half an hour. I would find the book eventually using the book searching computer thingy, or by dumb luck, but I'd rather ask.
Not trying to be a jerk, but it would be nice to read respectful, friendly postings.

And in the time it took to make a new thread, he could have searched for it.
This isn't just about this thread or topic. Like I said, people need to get comfortable using the search function before asking a question here, or any knowledge based site. Search, because chances are your question has been asked a million times before. If you don't see your answer, then by all means, make a new thread and ask.
The information gleaned from that thread can then be searched by the next guy who comes along with the same question.
