fairly reasonable s/e mi transfers?
last place i called wanted like 50 bucks for a transfer. anybody know any places that are a little more reasonable?

I know there is a guy on Davison (kitchen table) that does them for $10, his name escapes me at the moment. Cast and Blast outfitters does them for $20.

Harders Auto parts. Mt.Clemens on Groesbeck near M-59/Hall Rd. It was $15 last I heard.

This guy does reasonable transfers, IIRC.
You have to be an MGO or SAFR member.

Check out D&D gunsmiths. They are either in Clawson or Troy between Rochester and Livernois between 14 mile and Maple. Can't remember the street they are on though.

I live near Michi-Gun, and know the people, including the owner reasonably well. The owner wanted $100 to transfer and ship a hand gun I wanted to sell because the selling price was $4000.
I got it handled for $25 somewhere else.
Screw Michi-Gun.

too bad, i enjoy dealing with them as they are a lot nicer on the phone and in person than most local gun shops.

I just spoke to him and he was VERY helpful. He charges $15. I'll be using him for my transfer. I called Michi-Gun to inquire about their pricing and they wanted $75.

I live down the street from there and never go in. I drive to Marine City, Kurt at Centennial rocks!!!! Not sure about his transfer fee.
I go to harders for transfers.

One time brought a $4000 hand gun in there to get a magazine for it, he looked at the gun and said "Hey, I'll give you $300 for that thing."

Did you ask them specifically what the selling price had to do with the cost of shipping/transfer? Maybe their charges also included enough insurance to cover the selling price of the gun?
I'd be willing to bet whomever did it for $25.00 didn't insure the gun for dime one. What if it came up missing or damaged in-transit?

Huh? The receiving FFL has nothing to do with shipping.
Their only part in the whole transaction is to log the gun in to them when it arrives from the out of state seller, and then log it out to the recipient/buyer after running a NICS check.

Oh, righto. Well then, in that case, you did ask a good question.
A flat rate box, plus $4000 insurance is $46.85 from USPS, which IIRC is the cheapest way to ship a handgun.

It was insured for the whole $4000. I found a guy to do the transfer and I used my business UPS acount number (I get a discount) to ship it. The whole process was less than $50.
Insurance is covered for the first $100, and its something like $1 per $1000 insured, or something. I can't recal the exact details.
A lot of businesses ship things worth a lot more than $4000 without insurance.
I receive $10,000 orders of cutting tools on a monthly basis from vendors that don't insure.
Now that I'm thinking about it, I'm getting a little paranoid!
