Glock 23 vs. Glock 22

Hi! I have a Glock 22 and was thinking of getting a Glock 23 as well. Can I solicit your thoughts regarding this? Wanted to get the G23 as carry, although I already carry the G22. Is this a good idea or would I just be better off buying something else. TIA

My take is that would be ok if you have the other one for back-up but the G23 is too big for ankle carry. I say get another caliber.

i don't have a glock, yet. but IMHO...
if you're a civilian, i would suggest to carry smaller frame fa since most of the time you have to bring it with you in conceal carry. glock23 is great, it has enough stopping power and fire power. the recoil is much manageable than 45's, yet with shorter barrel the recoil changes to a bit more kick. if you're planning to shoot IPSC, i would suggest then to get glock17 for production division. at least your carry and range gun has the same operations and "feel" to your hand, as well as sight alignment, though it has a quite different recoil. you should also practice and use your carry gun in the range. just my two cents...

Saki, thanks for the advice. I really intend to practice with it if and when I decide to buy the G23. The problem with the G22, as well as all of my other full sized FA's (G21, 1911 types) is that they are too big to carry comfortably everyday, which is why I end up not bringing them most of the time. I have a bobcat (.22) but I feel the caliber is too "weak" to serve as a good carry gun, not to mention that it is quite choosy with ammo.

What saki said. I'm still hitting myself in the head for selling my nickel plated slide G17. If I can buy a cheap G17 slide and barrel I'll grab it then have it plated.

Hindi. You can only convert down, rather than up.

No, it can't be.

The .40 barrel will not fit the G17 slide, but a G22 slide can be fitted with a conversion barrel to enable you to shoot 9mm.

IMO the glock compact (glock 19, glock 23 etc..)is the ideal size for concealed carry. if u really want a glock in 40cal for carry then get the glock 23 and sell the glock 22. now with the money u can get something else

Thanks for all your inputs and suggestions. Speaking of interchangeable barrels, can a glock 22's barrel and magazines be accepted by the G23?

yup, the only problem with using the barrel of a glock22 in a glock 23 is it will stick out of the slide. so it will defeat the purpose of having a shorter slide

I shot both guns,In my opinion the G23's recoil is snappier than G22,barrel and pistol length,weight maybe the reason.If you want to stay with the same caliber for back up, get a G27.But if you want a .45 you cant go wrong with a G36.#7 rounds of .45 will do the job.

Yes, as long as the G17 have the newer 3-pin version. You need to change the ejector of the G17 to G22 version.

saki is asking slide and barrel and not just the barrel. With the slide and barrel, yes you can.

Wrong! They have different lock up lug.
ETA - You can use a G23 barrel on a G27.

I think glock 22 are more reliable than glock 23. Sabay kami bumili ng baril ng kaibigan ko G22 sakin G23 sa kanya, parehong bala armscore .40 SW 180 grains (Yun lang available na mura). After mga 100 rnds nagkakaloading failure g23 pero g22 okay lang no loading or cycling failure.

Did he find out what was the cause of the problem?

nope, didn't bothered him. 2x lang naman daw. We shoot 30 rounds today okay naman both guns. but still, parang totoo yun sabi sa the gun zone na me harmonics problem ang g23.

That should bother me, what if he was broken into and a fire fight ensued? I don't read gunzone that much, do you have a link or what wa said about the harmonic problem?

batang - I would guess stove pipe problem.

I dont have any links on the gun zone, but you can search just type THE GUN ZONE. I have to warn you there are lots of glock topics that are pretty negative. But I highly recommend reading the glock features there and you decide for yourself if you belive them are not.

To tell you the truth, I don't understand what you meant by harmonics problem, as I mentioned in my earlier thread I do not read Gun Zone that much but I do read it from time to time, probably twice a year (or less).

Still the same, I would be bothered by 2 FTFs.
