And so it begins...

"Who is a Paid Member?", because if you aren't, you must be a POS who doesn't support the site, right? Pay up or shut up? Your opinion doesn't count for jack if you aren't a 'Premium Member'???

We've all seen it before on other 'paid membership' boards. Let's hope elitism like that doesn't take hold here.

I might have paid. I might not have paid.

It's for Eric to know.

By the same token, if there are icons for various reasons, I would want mine to reflect what I've done.

It would not bug me one bit if there were none for anyone, though.

It also wouldn't bug me if people started with the "Well, YOU'RE just a petty bronze member, what the heck say do you have?" and Eric took everyone's icon away.

Please keep the pettiness out of it.

Definitely agreed.

I want to show my support without the "Weasel Effect".

One Ragged Hole. If everyone would just remember it helps GT, and doesn't mean anything else, we should be fine. I suppose there will always be trouble makers though.

It's pretty simple guys. You pay for a membership, you get a nice little icon that says so. If you don't pay for a membership, you don't get that nice little icon. Nothing more, nothing less.

If I create a thread, I will value everyone's opinion as much as I do now, regardless of their membership status. When I ask a question right now, I don't look for a "contributor" icon to see if that person is worthy of providing information. Heck, I don't have a contributor icon because I hadn't contributed, but my answers to questions were still to the best of my knowledge.

Only case I can see where that "member" icon will mean anything is in threads related to the money collected from the memberships, and I'm about 99% sure that Eric won't be posting any of those as he already knows what needs to be done with the money.

As far as "membership elitism" between the various tiers, that won't happen. If I have a bronze membership and you have a platinum one, that just means you had a few extra bucks, maybe I hadn't been paid yet, or maybe I spent all my money on hookers and blow. There is no "contributer elitism" that I've seen. There are guys with no icon, guys with the regular icon, and guys with II and III icons, doesn't mean squat to me other than "thanks for helping keep this place around".

I just bought a Silver... I think.

I never saw the "Click here to continue" thingy the warning in the Shop says to be sure to click on...

I did get a PayPal receipt though. Guess I'm good to go.

You should be ok. As long as Paypal redirected you BACK into GT's shopping cart, it went through.

Hey Eddie,

Can I have my II marker? *grins*

Beyond that, I ponied up for the Platinum as soon as I saw Eric's post.

I'd be curious, on some level to see who the Top Five (or Top Ten) were in the order that they jumped onto the new tier system. Mild curiosity, I don't care who the -top contributors in dollars- are (not my business), but I'm mildly curious about the timing.

Thats what happened to me. I clicked on something that redirected me back to GT, but my cart and purchases never showed that it was updated.
