Is anyone a member of Mid Carolina Rifle Club?

I've tried contacting a couple of people about joining, but gotten no replies.

I've read the info on their website about joining, and it says to just show up at one of their monthly meetings. I was a little uncomfortable doing that, and wanted to make contact with someone beforehand.

Also, what are the membership fees? They aren't discussed on the website.

I live in Pine Ridge, so it's just a couple of miles down the road and would be very convenient for me.

Any info is appreciated.

Come down on the 28th of August 9 am and shoot an IDPA match. Get the Match Director aside and talk to him, I'm sure he'll help all he can.

Keep in mind this may be outdated, but you are not required to go to the meetings to join, or go at all. I often work at night and was not able to attend the meeting and joined by contacting an officer who set me up.

Otherwise all you need is proof of membership in a gunrights group(ie NRA, GOA, SC Grassroots) and attend the mandatory range/safety briefing. The fee is $100/year. If you can't make/don't want to go to a meeting try emailing an officer, the links are on the front page of the website. If you have other questions email me and I can try to answer.

Don't worry about being a stranger at the meeting. I went to one several years ago to feel the group out and was impresed by their friendliness and willingness to help me in any way that they could. I was a member for about two years and then let my membership lapse since my work schedule didn't really allow me to use the range very much and money was tight. I've been thinking about joining again recently and may go to one of their meetings soon. Especially since they are one of the few places around here that has ranges for rifle use. And I have a brand spanking new SIG 556 that needs to be sigted in and put through its paces.

I was out there one day and ran into Bob Bailey who was the SC IPSC champ at the time. He was a great guy and gave me more than a few pointers which improved my shooting considerably. Impressive what that guy could do with a pistol.

Now that I've convinced myself, time to go visit their website.

Just go to the meeting. No one is going to stand there and pass judgement on you.

"My name is __________ and I'd like to join MCRC because it's convenient to where I live."

"Are you a member of (insert nat'l. org here)?"

"Yes."

It's that simple.

And yes, you DO have to attend a meeting to join except under special circumstances.

You then must attend a range safety meeting where you are given a tour of the facilities as well as a review of all rules and regulations.

I'll be there with a friend from work.

I'll be the younger guy with a goatee in a green polo and shorts.

Well that was easy enough. A range briefing on Saturday morning and we'll all be good to go to use the range. Their must have been 30 of us at the meeting looking to join and not a single one turned away. Great bunch of folks.

Looking forward to seeing some of you other people out there and setting up some times to get people together to do some group shoots.

Andy

Yep. Long meeting though.

I'm looking forward to getting involved in some of the competitions, although I know I'm gonna be terrible.
