i think firestorm will also come up with a .40 SS.

I'd be happier if it were a full size 10mm. I'd get rid of my 45 if this were available.

I've seen .40 single stack Mec-Gars at Twin Pines in Bacolod way back in 2003.

Two 10mm pistols I've seen in a magazine, the STI and the Kimber, both have 6-inch barrels.

My shooting buddy got the hi-cap version of this in 40cal. At the onset, it shot 2" high and right at 7m shooting rested on rags atop a steel barrel. There were also several sharp machined edges that needed smoothing out, plus the gritty and inconsistent trigger, probably 6-8lbs at that time. Short of saying, it needed TLC from a qualified gunsmith.
After a trip to one, it shot much sweeter and consistently, aimed dead-on, with a fiber optic front sight installed. As handsome as any sporting pistol I've seen.
Caliber: .45 ACP
Mag. Capacity : 13 rounds
Barrel: Standard
Barrel Length: 127 mm
Overall Length : 222 mm
Weight, empty : 1.18 kgs.
- Also available in 9mm , .38 Super, and 40 S&W, 17-round mag. for 9mm and .38s, 15-round mag and ramped bull barrel for .40S&W.

Is the 10mm ammo readily available now back home? A friend's driver was issued a 10mm 1911. Wrong decision in the late 90s. They had to buy a complete upper to convert it to .45 ACP and had the gun's license redone (I believe they added another caliber to the license).

PBD displayed a couple of boxes of 10mm ammo (forgot the brand, Winchester I think), plus several bagfuls of 10mm brass, for the reloaders. I also remember Final Option selling 10mm brass in bags of a hundred.

I've read somewhere that a steady diet of 10mm ammo thru a 1911 platform is very hard on the gun.

Full power 10mm mirrors the 41 magnum ballistics, hovering between 500 to 700ft-lbs, about twice the energy of a standard 9mm, 50% more powerful than a full power 45ACP defense cartridge.
Special modifications need to be done on a 1911 platform for it to withstand the higher chamber pressure (about 36-38kpsi compared to 21kpsi for the 45), and dampen the greater speed of the recoiling slide. It will surely punish the barrel link, slidestop and frame. Here lies the advantage of the linkless recoil system present in more modern production pistols like the Glock and HK to withstand ++P++ bullets
