If someone buys a Kahr and has no problem with it, they generally will not track down an Internet forum to post about it. Hence, most of what gets posted is from the minority of people who have problems.

I've also noticed that a lot of the "problems" with Kahrs that get posted here are bogus. My favorite is a guy who had never shot his, and was complaining that the gun's pickup rail was machined at an angle. Of course, if it was not machined that way, the gun would not work!

I had a PM9 5 years ago that would feed ramp nose dive on me. My buddy shot it, and it didn't happen to him. He bought it and loves it. It was the way I shot it that caused the malfunctions. I believe that most of the problems with these little guns is the way the shooter interacts with them.
Two months ago I bought a CM9. I had to shorten the part of the slide stop that engages the magazine follower to get it to feed Gold Dots(narrow mouth hollowpoints were OK). It's worked fine with cheap brass FMJ and 124gr +P GD.

Yes, it is still a tiny minority. Kahr sells about 26,000 guns per year. Only a few hundred show up with problems on the net.

We seem to be discussing the CM9 and the CW9. They are both substantially less expensive than a Glock. Perhaps you would be happier with a Jennings 22?

I've had my CM9 for several months and it's an absolute joy to shoot. Had a PM9, PM40, CW40 and CW45 and I decided I just needed one, and the CM9 is it. The others were all flawless too, but the 9's are just a tad thinner and lighter than the .40's. I actually like the CM9 better than my PM9 I had. WHy? Price one, but it also has conventional rifling instead of the glock-style rifling on the PM's, so I can shoot lead. It's very small and very accurate. The best small 9mm on the market IMHO.

I have no problem knocking over poppers at 25yds with my CM9, awesome little gun! It's small enough to fit in the pocket so that's just another plus! I would love to try a new CM40 too.

I love my CM9. I just installed a steel front sight, and never looked back. It's a great carry piece.

My PM9 is my pocket carry, I may have either my G23 or G27 in a IWB holster but I always have my PM9 in my pocket. My PM9 is five years old with zero malfunctions, most of the problems people have with any firearm can be traced back to operator error. I would have more Kahr pistols but because of my large hands and the single stack magazine in a Kahr I shoot double stack magazine pistols (GLOCK) better. But for back up, pocket carry I like my PM9.

CM9 may be the most perfect carry/back up weapon I've encountered in 45 plus years of shooting.

Mine has been flawless after 500+ rounds. I added a set of trijicon night sights and it is now my EDC.

Depending on what I am wearing, I carry my P45 or CM9. So far I have had no faults or failures with either.

Traded into a new one this weekend. I've owned a P9 Covert before (that's the P9's 3.5" upper end on the PM9's 6-shot short polymer frame) but traded it away because I found that the mag dumped during left-handed pocket carry.

That was stupid - I should have just gotten a better holster.

Anyhow, I've been wanting a 9mm that's more like my Ruger LCP in size and reliability, and the Kahr just happened to turn up on sale (new) at the right place and the right time . . . .

In the first 200 rounds, it had one instance of the slide not locking back when the 6-round mag was empty (second mag). It had two nose-dive FTFs with a used 8-rnd mag that I picked up - both after the first round fired (this mag appears only touchily reliable with 8-rounds - I'm carrying it with just 6). It had one instance of the slide locking open in the middle of a 6-round magazine of 147-gr Win PDX-1 rounds. Nothing after those.

So, here are some comparison pix and some chrono data. I have to say that I was not all that impressed with the velocities it delivered compared to other 3" guns that I've owned, though, considering it's the size of the Rohrbaugh, it's neat that it can take +P and +P+ ammo:

Kahr Club

ABQ City range, 5950'>sea level, 67F, c. 35% humidity:

Fed 115-gr FMJ bulk pack: M 1015/ES 28.55/SD 10.48

WWB 115-gr FMJ bulk pack: M 1069/ES 56.74/SD 27.76 decent accuracy

Rem old school 115-gr JHP: M 1057/ES 24.80/SD 10.77 easy shooting, grouped around POA

Fed 115-gr 9BP JHP: M 1063/ES 43.29/SD 17.66 - surprisingly, not especially accurate

Speer Gold Dot 147-gr: M 922.2/ES 19.73/SD 8.60 was accurate, high and right of POA,

Win PDX-1 147-gr: M 954.3/ES 39.86/SD 14.76 not esp. accurate, around POA, slide locked open in the middle of a 6-rnd mag early in testing and the round wasn't accurate enough to warrant re-testing after the 200-round break-in period.

Win PDX-1 124-gr +P: M 1137/ES 16.90/SD 6.85 not accurate, wide group R of POA

Speer short barrel 124-gr +P Gold Dot: M 1107/ES 30.19/SD 13.30
small group just under POA at 10yds

Win RA9TA 127-gr +P+: M 1180/ES 77.50/SD 30.88 tight group at POA

I'm carrying the RA9TA - good velocity, proven bullet, good group at POA. Somewhat stouter recoil than average, but still not as bad as the Win PDX-1 147-grainers. It carries remarkably well in a Remora clipless IWB/pocket holster and in the Pistol Wear Trump Card Subcompact holster belt.

Thought some of these comparison pix might be of interest:
