SB184: Sen.Buehrer announces PROPONENT hearing on Castle Doc! Make your voices heard!

SB184: Sen. Steve Buehrer announces PROPONENT hearing on Castle Doctrine

From: State Senator Steve Buehrer
Sent: Monday, November 19, 2007

Thanks to everyone who has shown interest in and expressed support for Senate Bill 184, Ohio's Castle Doctrine legislation. On October 17th, Senator Buehrer presented sponsor testimony on SB184 to the Senate Criminal Justice Committee. He testified on the importance of the bill and told the committee that, "For too long the pendulum has swung in the direction of protecting the rights of criminals over the rights of their victims. SB184, by modernizing Ohio's law, takes an important step toward making Ohioans feel safer in their homes, businesses and communities. People should have every right to defend themselves without fear of prosecution."

A second committee hearing on SB184 has been scheduled for Wednesday, December 5th. The Criminal Justice Committee will field important testimony from supporters of the Castle Doctrine. If you are interested in testifying on the bill, contact Senator Tim Grendell, the Chairman of the Senate Criminal Justice Committee. His office can be reached either by email or telephone 614-644-7718. Please let Senator Buehrer’s office know if you plan on testifying before the committee. You may also submit written testimony.

Please let Buckeye Firearms know if you plan to testify. Use the Feedback link to let us know you will be testifying for SB184. We will help you be prepared and present you message in compliance with accepted procedures and rules. We will also help you deliver your written testimony if you are unable to attend in person.

Please continue to follow SB184 as it moves through the legislative process and support Senator Buehrer as he works to clarify Ohio's Castle Doctrine law and ensure that every Ohioan has the right to defend themselves and their family against violent attack without the fear of legal recourse.
