My favorite knife by far. My Hissatsu knife, straped on my riffle plate carrier.
James Williams, the designer of the Hissatsu really put a lot of thinking in to this knife, a single purpose knife, a true fighter.

I didn't actually count the number of swings but when you watch it you see the tester has to work hard to break it. I think I found the video on Gerber's facebook page.

@ Tactical Black.. if you get sick of looking at those CRKT M16's, the -03Z and the -13Z, I accumulate them and use 'em in rotation for EDC. I'm up to 5 now, and won't flinch from another 5, as convenient.
My 'keeper' knives are almost without exception backed up with one or more spares. The other few dozen personal knives (non-cutlery) are testers.
CRKT M16 x5 Aus4
Outcast x 3 D2 steel
AF Pilots Survival Knife x2 1095
Buck-BK275 Seki Made Ultralight x 2 Aus8 (discontinued, similar to FRN Byrd Wings)
Ek Cammando #2 x5 D2 steel
S&W wide boot knife x2 420C (?) (cheap but they match my Smatchet)
Rat III in D2 x2 (I almost forgot!)
My knives are mostly excuses to own fancy whetstones. I can get VERY boring discussing pedigreed rocks. Ya'll lucked out.
And +1 on Kershaw Junkyard Dawg II. The ordinary cheap one is a GOOD knife, the composite version is a GREAT knife. I've seen composites as cheap as 49$, which is a steal. It might not be ZT quality but I can't feature anyone complaining about it.
I'll be mating up an Endura soon as I luck onto the deal, the ZDP 189 version. Snagged one and that is some VERY good steel. The ordinary VG10 is great, but even it won't hold up like the ZDP 189. One more ain't more'n a good start. Keeper!
And those Ek daggers I stole fair n' square on closeout from two different stores, the last 5 on the market. 6" D2, double edged, black linen micarta and brass rivets. Retail is roughly $200, and I got 'em 50$ each.
I'll take 2000$ cash for the 5 of 'em, which is as close as I can get to 'Not for sale'. Real good sentry removal tools, IMO better than the Sykes/Fairbairn commando dagger by far.
The Outcasts aren't there yet, I put a long convex edge on one of 'em, and improved it so much I bought two more. They need tuning up, cause the factory edge don't get it. It's a monster job reprofiling that D2 by hand, and diamond hones and garnet stones took me my evenings for a week.
It made enough difference to double the value of the knife. That steel loves a convex edge. It's tough as a boot to start with, and once well convexed is much less likely to chip under any sort of stress. GOOD knives once tuned.

Some of you have incredible collections. Here's a pic of my very modest collection.

The majority of my collection are Spydercos but these 3 are in my usual rotation, the 301 being carried the most.

Benchmade 950 Rift. Recently went searching for a new EDC, and had certain features I was looking for:
Thumb stud opening - no assistance of any kind
Extremely grippy handle
Tip-up carry with belt-clip
Meaty blade under 4" long
The "wow" factor
I was stuck between a couple of Benchmade models and an Emerson CQC-7. I have hands that are sometimes too large for XXL-sized gloves so I was only considering knives I could get to hold/handle before I purchased which ultimately, despite a serious effort on my part, ruled out the Emerson - I simply could not find one locally I could try.
The Benchmade's I were considering were the 940 and the 520. The 520 was very nice - felt great in the hand. But it had an "evil knife" look that would have screamed "Human Resources wants to see you right now" if the wrong co-worker had caught a glimpse of it. The 940 was my favorite based purely on the aesthetics - the Osborne design was just beautiful, but after handling it at my local Victorinox, I realized the handle was way too small and had virtually no grip.
I hadn't even seen the 950 before I went to the store but they had one on display and I fell in love the minute the salesman pulled her out of the case. The stepped G10 micarta scales create an fantastic grip surface without being abrasive. The blade is very meaty and the reverse-tanto design adds strength without looking as "stumpy" as most other tanto's do.
Overall I'm very happy with my purchase. Two weeks after I purchased it I was in a tile store looking at some tile for a bathroom remodel and the salesman needed to open a box of tiles to show me some new product he'd gotten in that day ... I stupidly handed him my Rift instead of gingerly slicing through the tape he pushed the blade all the way through the box and ran the blade hard across the tile. He destroyed the edge and even ended up scratching up the sides of the blade pretty bad. I called up Benchmade and they'll put a new blade on any knife for $25 to $35 - so my Rift is at BM as I write this getting a new, laser-marked blade attached.
No, I will never lend this knife out to a non-knife person again.

I have always had a preference for Gerber Blades.
