Well... Im probably talking to myself here. But here goes..... Anybody know how to clean the barrel of a .177 cal Gamo? Or do pellet guns need cleaning.

In my childhood I never cleaned the barrel. I always oiled the insides to keep them going and other cleaning but never did the barrel.

I got a Gamo Compact Target pistol about a month and a half ago.
Some of my buddies have been shooting air pistols and rifles for years-but I just never thought about doing it.Don't know why I jumped in, but I'm sure glad I did!
My pistol was about 229$ from Compassco...
I went to the 1st match and shot a 521...
then messed with shooting glasses and different lenses and over the next weeks shooting I went

I'm shooting against some awful expensive guns- 15-1800 $...and they are in the 540s.
I think I can go 540 with the Gamo...I've only shot about 400 rounds thru it, so I'm just still learning the pistol...
I asked a guy who shot a Gamo like mine about cleaning it- and he said DON'T!
and he said NEVER oil it! Shoot it dry... I dunno...I'm 400 rounds thru mine with no oil or cleaning and it doesn't seem to be losing any accuracy...
One guy said to NEVER use petrolium based oil..that it would eat the seals.
I'm shooting Premier Hollow Point Hunting pellets made by Crossman- They are MUCH easier to load than the wadcutter's that came with the gun...
I'm way glad I got the thing- and shooting in these Saturday Morning matches is giving me some good trigger time in this cccold Indy winter.

RWS sells an airgun cleaning kit. If it's a spring gun, you definately need to make sure it's maintained. Airgun? I've got a Daisy 747 that needs occasional cleaning but nothing laborious like firearms.

Might as well keep them clean. In cold weather, we shoot them more.

I've owned many of the little Daisy plinkers, a stronger Crossman pump, and want a Gamo very badly.

I got a Crosman Quest, I think it is, and it's fun to plink with. Growing up I shot airguns ALL of the time and still enjoy it.

I have found a quick way to clean airgun barrels.

Take a Q-tip and put a drop or two of oil on the buds. Shoot it through the barrel like it was a pellet. Repeat if needed until clean then shot a dry one through to wipe the extra oil away. Done.
