Which 30.06
Hey guys, which 30.06 rifle would you buy? I was looking at the Sako 75 $850.00, Sigarms SHR 970 $470.00. I was interested in the Sigarms due to price but have no experience with them or about the accessories available for sig. I heard great things with the Sako 75 but dont really want to spend that much for a hunting rifle now. Thanks Esox357

You could get a model 70 winchester or remington between 550 and 600 dollars. If you want to fork out 850 on the sako its got good reviews and i think the word is still out on the sigs.Just my opinion, but i think the win. or rem. would serve you better.

Thanks guys, I cant figure out on the Sig either. The sako I dont want to fork out that much money but would if I needed to. I figure if I buy a less expensive it can be used on more investments in firearms. I thought of the Ruger too, but their politics makes me boycott them. I like the action ruger uses and shot my buddies rifle not bad and very light. Thanks Esox357

If you are planning to monkey with it at all, I'd go with the Remington idea. It is very easy to find someone to do a good trigger job. Aftermarket parts are plentiful and finding advice is as easy as it is with a Glock.
If you aren't planning any changes, the Remington is still a fine rifle at a reasonable price. I am partial to the Remington 700 Mountain Rifle in 30.06. I am actually considering getting one for deep woods whitetail.
I like the A-Bolt just fine. Shoot one in .243. Handles well and shoots well. I like the safety better than the Remington. For some reason the Remingtons just feel better to me. A little more solid. You'd be happy with either I'm sure. Just go handle them and see what suits your fancy.
The Sako is absolutely beautiful. But as you said, expensive.
JMHO, Tol

If you like the action on a Ruger, you're going to like the Winchester Classic action. Have a look at the model 70 and the Featherweight.

can't go wrong with the REMINGTON 700. Carlos Hathaway had over 60 kills with his in Vietnam, albeit in a different caliber, but the same basic rifle.

My Ruger M77 All-Weather Rifle in .30-06 cost $380, groups 1/2" at 100 yds with factory ammo, is light, and with spending under $20 on paint and tape, it looks very cool and disappears in the woods.

He and my dad were on the USMC rifle/pistol team together and were bunk mates. Interesting guy, both of them.

That's cool. My dad said that he couldn't keep his mouth shut and didn't like authority, so he kept getting busted in rank.

I never fired a SAKO or SIG SHR 970 but i believe they are very good guns .I would put them right behind BLASER R93 (I really don't like the complicity of Steyr), particulary when you consider price difrence.
I was last year on IWA in Nurmberg(GUN SHOW No.1) and I was really positivetly surprized with SIG.
For the price you stated just go for it.
I don't know what kind of acessories you want, but we are probably talking skope and a sling here. It has weaver rails so no problem here.
Triger is far better than ruger.
It's worth considering.
