Yep, right handed people are prone to accidents.

We adapt just like we did for pencil sharpeners and ice cream scoops.

I went with glocks because I got sick of right side only safetys, decocker levers, and other useless crap on other pistols.

Convince me to buy Glock
As a lefty, I'm attracted to the S&W M&P 9c because it's ambi in terms of "slide release" and mag release.
I like shooting the Glock 26, but was wondering what all can be done to make this one "lefty friendly"?
Thanks for your help,
Russell

There's a extended slide release that I saw that some left handed people like. I've never tried one and don't really have a problem with my G22.

I've got the extended slide release on both my glocks, and love it. Very easy to use for a left handed shooter

One of the nice things about shooting lefty is getting all of the gadgets out of the way of the thumb, and the greater convenience of using the left index finger to release the magazine. Of course, a safety, if used, really needs to be set up for lefty/ambi use, but I don't use 1911 pistols for serious stuff anymore, so that is a non-issue for me now. My favored lefty pistol is the SIG P229.

I'm glad to see that Charter Arms and Stag Arms are taking notice that there is a market out there for us "Lefties".

southpaw's unite!
Southpaw here. Shooting a G23, HK USP 40 (just had an ambi safety installed), Para P16.40 Limited, Sig P228, S&W 6906.
Love the Glocks because they are SIMPLE...and +1 to using the trigger finger for mag release...no better safeguard when the RO's are scrutinizing you during a shoot! I was taught this as a proper technique regardless of what your dominant hand is. Reason...ever notice that when folks use their thumbs they take the gun OFF target, usually aim it upwards, and cant it at an angle to change mag's?? This makes coming back on target very difficult. This is mainly because many people don't have thumbs long enough to engage the mag release while still holding on the target.
So, using the index finger...better recovery on target and gun always points downrange.
I love my HK also...has an ambi mag release, (but I still use my trigger finger). Finding the ambi safety that is on the frame is getting in the way of my grip a bit, though.
S&W has an ambi-safety on the slide! They were definitely smart when they designed these. Flip it up to fire and it is parallel to the deck and out of the way...love this one at close ranges (not worth a **** at long distances).
Hey...someone told me that Browning was a left-handed shooter...anyone know if this is true or not?
Like my grandpa used to say..."righties use the left side of their brain, and lefties use the right side of their brains. so never argue with a lefty because they are always in their right mind!"

I have an M&P 9c and like it a lot. The mag release requires a slight modification to convert it for lefties, but it's easy. The procedure is described in the manual.
As much as I like the M&P, I am looking at something different and Glock is the first place I am looking.
