1985 ANG 1986 transfered to active duty AF. 1993 seperated AF rejoined ANG retired ANG 2007. Would have stayed ANG longer but had to get away from "political" forces. Am looking to move and find a new unit to go back into (yes you can come out of retirement if you are not getting a check)

I don't regret getting out of active duty.

2001, before Sept 11 and still in. Believe it or not, I was at the top of the Empire State building on June 25, 2001 taking pictures of the NYC skyline. I took the pics with me to Tech school and I noticed I had taken pictures of the WTCs. That was the last time I saw them.

I went in the Air Force in Oct 1973 and retired in Jun 1994. I never regretted my time in but after 20 years, it was time to move on and try something new. I am now in management for a large international computer outsourcing company.

Long past, I was supposed to put on SrA in October. Bad knees and a screwed up situation means I'm still an A1C.

1995-1999 AF AD
1999-2001 AF Reserve
2001-2004 Army National Guard
2004-present AF Reserve (inactive for now though)

I wish I would've stayed active duty. I'd either be a Master or be testing for Master and I'd have less than 8 years until my 20.

So I'm guessing a drama King/Queen was given a break? That happened about 20 years ago to my board. the "back office" decided a troop that went over to Saudi for 90 days that had a spouse that burned an engine up in the family car, didn't pay rent or utilities for 90 days and maxed out about 4 credit cards was more deserving and thus an example for early promotion (they might need more money for her to spend)

Actually, everyone in my BTZ group that deployed got it. Everyone else didn't no matter how much we'd done (and that was a lot). Since the rest of us were simply waiting (and in some cases begging) to deploy we thought that was kind of crappy.

On the still-an-A1C I have screwed up knees now thx to the AF, I can not run a regular Pt test (sprints, sure...distance running, no). I was put on the bike test, passed, maxed the situp/pushups, or near enough, and then they told me "you're 2 inches too big. Lose weight". Being 5'9 and 195lb at 30 years old, i don't know where they expect it to go, but I'm trying.

I'm just trying to survive the next 1.2 years or so and get out.

I head to Officer Training School on January 30th, 2008. I hope to do at least 20 years, but only time will tell.
