Anyone think this premise would work? Pt. II

After reading James Ellroy's L.A. Confidential and Mario Puzo's The Godfather , with both set in the 1950's, I wonder how the premise of the two converging would work.

With the Corleone family trying to set up a narcotics foothold in Los Angeles (mentioned in the novel) and the LAPD trying to keep the East Coast mafioso out.

Sort of Luca Brasi meets Bud White at The Victory Motel with Sgt. Jack Vincennes on his case.

Your thoughts.

The only way to really figure it out would be to write out a summary of your ideas and begin writing. If it flows well and you feel good about the plot, then it should be fine. If not, revise it and keep working towards perfection.

I guess I will have to try Griffins books.
After reading almost everything Ellroy has written, it will be quite the change.

I will do the outline and go from there.

I have read that some of Ellroy's outlines are 300 pages long.
