A good gun shop and range in the Austin area...

Hey guys!!

I live in Cedar Park and work in Austin. I am looking for a good gun shop for someone, like myself, who is new to guns. I am planning on buying a Glock 19 this month.

Also any suggestions for ranges in the area?

Thanks!!

There is a decent store locally in Cedar Park, Buttercup Creek and 183

The Gun Store
Ignore the store pictures, they haven't updated their site from when they were in Houston

Another good store is a little further down 183, at Anderson Mill (NE corner)

Heritage Firearms
Website is down, but I called, they are still in Business (512) 219-1122.

As for ranges, there's one just down the road. Good for normal range activity, and not busy during the week.

Eagle Peak / Leander, Tx

Also, there are two further north on 183, Stans and Astro (both are South of Briggs, TX)

If you're looking for indoor ranges, then it's Reds North or South.

Red's Indoor Range (North or South)

And finally, KR Training maintains a list of area clubs and ranges, check it out for more options.

Austin Area Guide to Shooting

Enjoy, and welcome to Cedar Park!

Probably get the best price for a G19 at the Saxet gun show.

McBride's has a good selection of items but some of the clerks can be Commando Crank in attitude. Take there advice with a grain of salt if you are a newbie.

I think I might just go to Academy. I went over there yesterday and they had the 19 for $499.

I ordered a gun safe online and it should be here in a few days. I am taking the NRA First Steps Pistol course this Saturday. I am guessing sometime next week I will be the proud owner of a Glock 19.

Thanks for your help!!!

Now - go look at www.krtraining.com for classes and the area FAQ for competitions and ranges!

Also - www.rivercityshooters.org for matches in the local Austin/SA area. Folks easily commute from Austin to the www.texastactical.net matches off 281 or even to the San Antonio ones.

Enjoy as the G19 is a fine gun for IDPA and some IPSC divisions.
