Bill introduced to legalize CCW on College Campuses!!!!

Carl (Lumberjack) really did the footwork on this.

We got a bill in the Legislature!
http://billstatus.ls.state.ms.us/200.../HB/HB1286.xml

So, how do we get the NRA to start pushing this?

My day couldn't get better

That's awesome. I really hope it doesn't die in Judiciary B. Even though, it still rocks that we had at least one Rep with the stones to submit a bill like this. We all need to send Rep Chism an email or call him.

I think w e will need them to get this passed though.

My main concern is that it does not revise 97-37-17 pertaining to guns in possession of students AND non students (when not in the vehicle for the latter). The comittee will need to address that issue.

I know Terry Brown, he will support the bill. I'll give him a call in a bit, perhaps I could get an audience with the committee to to help win them over.

certainly a great move

my fear would be then as soon as it [potentially] gets passed that college's will prohibit it on campus

I was just thinking about that.

We really need this to pass though. We are defenseless while we sit in class and walk across campus. The best I could possibly hope for is the unarmed guard to drive by on the golf cart. No promises they would stop though.

there was a big shooting in an IL classroom yesterday... i read through some of the accounts.. most said that they crawled to the door, and that their only choice was to "run or die."

Unfortunately, from what I hear from Mark, tuesday is too late. The bill must be out of committee Tuesday or it dies.
