This is a great, although somewhat long and more indepth than it really needs to be.
It portrays how American society has been essentially physically bankrupt by big tobacco. Great read for anyone interested in how cigarettes have become the drug that controls America. the first part is about the past history and is very informative.
How did we go bankrupt? From my perspective cigarettes were SAVING the country. Easy tax revenues for the .gov, kept folks slim, and lung cancer takes folks relatively quickly and before they can collect too much social security. While it sucks on an individual level, smoking is a highly personal choice and probably good at the government level (well, until the .gov got into the health care game).
