I just decided to model my uniform with all my patches!

Look to the left... That's my combat patch from Nam. The patch of the 173D Airborne Brigade. Same guys and gals that did a combat jump into Tikrit, Iraq, a couple of years ago. I would have given a certain left piece of my body to have been on THAT jump!!!! Darn it. Too old now.
Sure Shot made a generalized pronouncement that it wasn't good for any active-duty.
I plead ignorance.
I merely understand concerns for internet security but have absolutely no idea about the ramifications of this discussion and should have stayed out -- sorry!

I still see no reason not to post one's patch here on GT, active duty, retired or one who has served. (Especially for veterans, no longer on active duty.)
Most every Army unit in Iraq and Afganhistan, wears both their division and/or combat patch on their uniforms. They have them on both arms, in most cases.
I don't think it's any secret which units are serving in these AOs. The news media and the military itself, (PIOs) usually posts rotations of major unit's to both places.
The exception IMO, would be specialized units like SEAL teams, SF ODAs, Delta, Ranger and other Special Operations units designated for Special missions, etc.

I served 3 years with F Troop 2/11th ACR out of Bad Kissingen, Germany. I was the gunner on a 4.2 inch Mortar. Later I became the TC when I made E5 Sgt. I was there '76 -'79. Rotated back to the states - Ft. Stewart, GA. F.O. with the 1/35th FA for the 24th Inf. I didn't even put their (24th) patch on my uniforms. "ONCE CAV ALWAYS CAV". Out in Sep. '79.

I had to look up the 24th ID history after seeing that, since my unit is currently under the 24th ID. I didn't know that the 3rd ID label was taken away from (what is now) the 1st ID, and given to (what was then) the 24th ID in 1996. The 24th ID was inactive until it was "reactivated" in 1999 into what's basically a placeholder, consisting of three National Guard brigades (GA, NC, SC).
It's funny that all the units of the 24th ID are in the southeast, but its headquarters is in Kansas.
The 24th ID was stationed in Hawaii, Korea, Germany, Georgia, and now KS headquarters (with GA, NC, and SC guard units under it).
I'm a 68W (M6), still in training for my ASI, so I wear the MEDCOM patch. Had orders for 25th ID after AIT, but it didn't matter since I was already scheduled to my ASI.
We'll see what happens when I graduate here. I have a good friend from AIT who's now a Medic with the 4th ID, so I wouldn't mind heading up there.
Apparently the pic posting criteria has changed so I won't bother, but if you've ever been to an Army hospital, you've probably already seen it anyway.

I hear ya. I missed it too. If only the runway had been a pile of garbage.....

The 24th ID also served in the Occupation of Japan and was the first units to korea during the Korean War. The Division Co. (Gen. Dean) was captured while hunting NK T-34's with a 2.7 bazooka. (They tended to bounce off T-4's.)
I don't blame the guy. I had a run in with a guy stalking my wife and he eventually called a Detective with my duty station's mp's trying to stir ****. Ofcourse I made certain comments toward the fellow..I'm no longer active but I'm careful who knows my unit.
I got that catalog too. And I agree with what you said.
The FBI has busted people for impersonating the military
all the way up to the MOH.
Since Im prior Airborne I can recommend the silver wings from their catalog. Since I polished my jump school wings with such "love"
that bronze/copper started to come thru,. I wiped the silver completely
off them.
These wings are made of pure silver. Or close to it.
And if your Airborne, what else would you want pinned
on your chest other than what SSG Barry Sadler told the
World?
