Based on your measurements, the difference is .034"(not .34"). In a nutshell, the MGSL will protrude .017" or 1/64" further on each side.

Thanks for all the positive feedback.
I'd be happy to answer anyone's questions about the MGSL.

I am curious. If there is a break-in period of 100-200rnds, or actually for any other purpose as in breaking in a new gun, can you get the same effect if you just rack the slide and let it slame into battery, say 200 times?
This saves some $50+ upto over $100.
Do it in conjunction with dry firing, because you'd need to do it any way to get better. Then your groupings would be better for a couple of reasons.

I had installed mine this winter and did just what you describe maybe 400 times. When I got a chance to live fire their was no required break in period at least not in my case. SJ 40

Ok, I will. I have read most of the pages, but i am still wondering.... How is the reliability of the weapon after this mod? Any FTF or FTE? Still be safe to use as a home defense gun? Thanks!
ALso, $36 will cover it and shipping?

When I ordered one in Feb it was 30.00 plus 7.00 for shipping so a total of 37.00.
I had hand cycled my slide 300-400 times before I ever live fired it,so reliability was 100% with first live fire. Since then I have approximately 500 more rounds down range with ZERO malfunctions of any kind. I now trust it for carry as much as one can trust anything mechanical. SJ 40

I emailed him and he contacted me back promptly! As long as their is no reliability issues (and he says their won't), I will be happy! My check is in the mail. I will update once I receive it.

Gents,
There is no loss of reliability using the MGSL. The break in of 100-200 rounds is to mate the bearing surfaces of the barrel lug to the lock, but this is not always necessary with every gun and the break in process will not effect the reliability of the pistol. I recommend live fire for break in, but dry fire will work as well - it just takes longer.

Got my MGSL in the mail today! What a nice piece! Extremely high quality. Probably going to the range this weekend.
Thank you TR!
