Best free anti spyware/adware...?

I know the AVG free edition is probly the best free antivirus, but is there a similar one for spyware/adware? (has to be free just like the AVG). Preferably one that self updates like AVG does.

Spyware Terminator is one of the best. Especially when "hips" is enabled. It's an option that is disabled by default so it should be enabled after installing.

I forget the name of the program but whatever the antispyware program is from Microsoft that is an option on Windows update does not work very well and might as well be uninstalled.

The new AVG Free 8.0 now includes spyware protection. I don't know how well it works. It just came out today.

It's a big download, 45.57 MB. Works with Windows XP and Windows Vista only. No Windows 98, no Windows 2000.

Man, I was just telling someone on the forum a few days ago that AVG free didn't do spyware, and look what happens.

Okay I tested AVG 8.0, It takes a while to scan but not much longer than other AV programs. It is the best one I've tested so far. It's better at finding infections within archived (compressed) files such as ZIP files and RAR files. It found some infections in RAR files that both AVG 7.5 and Avast both missed. I haven't tested the antispyware part of AVG 8.0 yet but it is functional in the free version.

I have one old PC that is too slow for Windows XP with SP2 so it runs Windows XP with SP1. AVG 8.0 gave a message it won't work with XP SP1 but it will work with Windows 2000 SP4. So It looks like it will work with Windows 2000 SP4, Windows XP SP2 and Windows Vista.
