Australian Gun Law Update

Australian Gun Law Update

Here's a thought to warm some of your hearts...
From: Ed Chenel, A police officer in Australia
Hi Yanks, I thought you all would like to see the real figures from Down[Under.
It has now been 12 months since gun owners in Australia were forced
by a new law to surrender 640,381 personal firearms to be destroyed by
our own government, a program costing Australia taxpayers more than $500
million dollars.
The first year results are now in:
Australia-wide, homicides are up 6.2 percent,
Australia-wide, assaults are up 9.6 percent;
Australia-wide, armed robberies are up 44 percent (yes, 44 percent)!
In the state of Victoria alone, homicides with firearms are now up 300
percent.
(Note that while the law-abiding citizens turned them in, the criminals did
not and criminals still possess their guns!)
While figures over the previous 25 years showed a steady decrease in armed
robbery with firearms, this has changed drastically upward in the past 12
months, since the criminals now are guaranteed that their prey is unarmed.
There has also been a dramatic increase in break-ins and assaults of the
elderly, while the resident is at home.
Australian politicians are at a loss to explain how public safety has
decreased, after such monumental effort and expense was expended in
'successfully ridding Australian society of guns.' You won't see this on the
American evening news or hear your governor or members of the State Assembly
disseminating this information.
The Australian experience speaks for itself. Guns in the hands of honest
citizens save lives and property and, yes, gun-control laws affect only the
law-abiding citizens.
Take note Americans, before it's too late!
FORWARD TO EVERYONE ON YOUR EMAIL LIST. [I DID]

To Nandy Pacheco,

If you tell me that you will leave it up to the Man upstairs, I admire you. I also believe in God....but it doesn't hurt to believe in Glock as well

How old is this e-mail?

The first gun buyback was in 1996 and the handgun buyback was in 2003.

However I do agree that you guys should stand by your rights and protect them at all costs

One of the Perth papers is doing a media beat up at the moment saying that something more has to be done about guns because there are more guns in the hands of licensed individuals now than there was in 1996. Apparently there's something wrong with that.

The only reason that satisfies me as to why some governments are wary of armed citizens is when they have weak military and police forces.

Take the USA for example, in the gun friendly states, you can practically own any firearms you want, but the US govt. doesn't seem worried. Correct me if I'm wrong, but its probably because most citizens know that if they mess with the govt, they are bound to get it.

Of course there is Nandy's tribe, I'm sure this tribe has global reach. They wanna pretend spreading love and peace to one another will shoo the bad guys away. I wonder what type weed they're smoking to give them that kind of high

I thinks thats a big part of it, the gov is scared of its own people because they are corrupt and doing a crappy job.

Over here we've got the communist's\trade unions shouting for a ban on private gun ownership, supported by feel-good\brain dead anti gunners - the gov has a wide selection of fools to use as they see fit.

Thats why it's called gun control, not crime control.

While I do believe in God, I also believe that the Lord helps those who help themselves, so I pray that:

Lord, please
- don't put me in a situation where I have to pull a gun on anybody...
- if no, please grant that my assailant will run away at the sight of my gun...
- if no, please grant that he will at least desist from any nefarious designs he may have on my person or my loved ones...
- if all else fails, Lord, please grant that I won't miss, that my assailant will fall down at my first shot, and that my gun and ammo won't fail me when I need it the most!

And in a worst case scenario, Lord, please don't put me in a situation where I need a gun and don't have one, thanks to our authorities and Nandy Pacheco, since I'm too big a target and I can't run very fast!

God gave us our right to bear arms, the govt has no right to take that away.

In fact the govt has the obligation to recognize and protect that right, just like all our other rights, like the right to life and right to own private property.

I also believe in Mr. Smith & Mr. Wesson bro. They're older and wiser than Mr. Glock.

Just to share an experience. There was a gun show just recently however the media focused on one booth, which was not even firearm related and they were selling books all sorts. In a little corner had something about the Nazi's and a picture of their symbol. Media then depicted all gun owners and those who went to the show as supporters of such. Firearm laws are very strict where its somewhat illegal to use an FA in self defense. Dont let Mr. Pacheco win. It will be the day when criminals dominate the streets
