Mga sirs,

I copy pasted a portion of that news report...

"The majority of Americans see the absurdity of gun control and recognize the valuable self-defense function of guns."

But Paul Helmke, president of the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, said the ruling made clear that "the constitution allows for reasonable restrictions on access to
dangerous weapons."

ano nga pala yung weapons na hind dangerous?

good for the US gun owners. sayang no, dito sa atin, the SC ruled na gun ownership is a privilege, not a right, although that ruling is ignored and will always be ignored sa sharif kabunsuan (i hope i got the spelling right) and other parts of mindanao na wild wild west.

just the same, let's be thankful, nandy pacheco isn't an SC judge, LOL

I admire him greatly (my mom used to work with him at the OSG),
but Frank Chavez might've chosen the wrong angle of attack with SCORP, when
he challenged the Constitutionality of GMA cancelling PTCFOR's (2001?)

Chavez tried to frame that as a form of divestment, as if a property issue.
He could have made the-right-to-keep-and-bear central to his case,
even though it had less legal basis than what he chose. At least the issue
would have been put on the table. Talo rin naman either way, e,
sana nai-angat ang tunay na issue sa media.

RKBA isn't really guaranteed by the US Constitution.
It is mentioned in an "obvious-ba-that-there-is-a-RKBA?" by the 2A,
as context for telling the federal government not to infringe on such
a natural right.

Famiies don't need a Constitutional clause to have kids,
People don't need government permision to eat.

There's a line in the movie The Patriot that is funny, but provocative.
Mel Gibson's character, testing proponents for outright Revolution, asks:
"Why should I trade one tyrant 3,000 miles away, for 3,000 tyrants 1 mile away?"
Democracy is too easily the tyranny of the slim majority.

If we want the majority of the public/voters on your side, the RKBA side,
then firearm owners should be friendlier, gentler, admirably responsible folks.
Unfortunately, it's mostly porma, yabang, and hotheadedness.
Can't shoot worth zip naman. That negative character is why
it's so easy to promote something so terrifying as a "Gunless Society".

I need to take a blood thinner right now...

horge,

in other words, since we don't have a 2nd ammendment our RKBA depends on the political climate

now where is that time machine...LOL

sir horge this means that we have to promote the sport kasi i noticed sa range that those who can't hit the target and ugly pana are those na puro yabang lang while those who are into the sport are those who are friendly lalo na yun mga old timers na.

Rkba

How can a person defend himself and love ones or his country...With clubs...swords...muskets>>>??? Yes, with anything that helps...And do you need a "sentence written in a piece of paper" to say that each one of us has the right to keep and bear arms so that we can be free or that we can repel the bad guys...RKBA or the second amendment is just a reminder of a GOD given right to self preservation.

if you're logic is correct, then it means we can never have the support for RKBA. because the poor voting masses can't afford legit firearms.

there is one way to get their support...bribe them just like what our trapos do

Funny thing about the law in our "Beloved Philippines" i was talking to a lawyer about the scope of self defense and illegal possession, and i was so shocked to hear what he said. sabi nya when u see a thief inside ur haws divesting all ur stuff u just can't shoot him daw even if he has a knife. what u can do daw is fire a warning shot. so sabi ko if he attacks me i can shoot him...to my jaw-dropping shock!! NO! the courts may find it overkill, that according to that lawyer. now i'm not sure if that's true or not but our resident lawyers can chime in on this. this lawyer friend i was talking to went on to say that sa batas daw pag kutsilyo ang pinang atake sayo kutsilyo din daw dapat pang laban mo. kahit daw sinasaksak ka na u can't empty 18rds of 40s&w on that BG....get this, because it's OVERKILL. weird!!! may mag lakad lang sa bubong namin gusto na ratratin ng tatay ko eh. hehehe joke lang

Don't believe everything you are told.
If you fear for your life right then and there; ano, maghahanap ka pa ng knife?
LOL...

A BG, brandishing a deadly weapon, inside your home?....'naku naman.
Any half-decent lawyer can convincingly argue you were in fear for your life,
with only a second to act, and so you used what was on hand. Wala ka
naman knife-training, at wala rin namang knife, e.

Besides, hindi naman laging umaabot sa korte 'yan, e.
Sino ang sasampa ng kaso sa 'yo? Police? Fiscal?
The BG's family pa siguro, and either they want compensation or they
want revenge. Getting you convicted does not usually compute for them,
kasi nga mga lahing akyat-bahay ang mga 'yan.

If they want revenge, then no case is filed. babanatan ka na lang. LOL.
If they want compensation, paramdam agad before even a hearing,
and if you settle, then no case is filed.
If the BG was some drug-crazed scion of a wealthy family, out on a really
violent trip, then all bets are off.

Besides, any BG getting into your home is your own fault.
Ka-daming low-cost measures to prevent that in the first place, and
protecting where you and your loved ones live, from violent intrusion,
is your sacred obligation and responsibility.

Anyway, i just hope that our beloved justices would see it the way the US supreme court justices saw the bigger picture.
