They work pretty good

No aftermarket mags that work (I have a promag that jams every shot)

Ugly as sin, but you can get an ati stock to make them a little better.

works for what it is

The Hi-Point carbine is a fun shooter. My brother bought a used one a last month. The weekend he got it we put about 300 rounds thru it and didn't have any problems. It's fairly accurate as well. For the money, it's a good firearm.

We picked up a couple extra Hi-Point brand mags at the gun shop, they were $25 ea. You can probably find some cheaper on the internet. I've heard it's best to stick with the factory mags, haven't read any good reviews on any other brand mags for that firearm.

The "once a month" HiPoint carbine question...Maybe we should have a sticky.
Those that have them, love them. Those that don't can't believe they are as good as they are.

That pretty much sums it up. If you want more Hi-Point carbine info try this: http://hipointfirearmsforums.com/Forum/

I have a HP995 (the 9MM) and like it. It's been reliable, accurate, and butt-ugly. I did have a feed problem with one mag, which the manufacturer replaced (paid shipping both ways,. They do have great customer support). I put an ATI stock on mine and an after-market charging handle.

It's a fun plinker and range carbine. I'm not sure I'd use it as a go-to weapon for HD.

They don't have to be ugly if you give them a little bit of a make over:

I put about $300 into this gun until I added the Eotech that doubled that price.

Was well worth it though. Accurate, reliable, good handling and excellent customer service.

Only downside is the standard capacity magazines.

Have one? Ever even shot one?

They are ugly as sin, and the handguns are very bulky, but everything I've heard says that they are reliable. And they come with a lifetime warranty with good customer support.

I got the 4095 (.40S&W) and it`s fun to shoot. The 10rnd. mags need to be uped to atleast 20. I`m glad I have it and will get the 9mm when I find it good and cheap.

Everyone own one loved it. As far as mag goes, don't bother any place other than their website. You can get a 995 mag for $17(http://www.hi-pointfirearms.net/prod...asp?prod=HP015), and 4095 mag for $18(http://www.hi-pointfirearms.net/prod...asp?prod=HP020), all free of shipping. Because I live in CA, so right now I'm actually going through some trouble to ordering a 995. I need a special order from a 3rd party that will custom make one for CA legal. Than pay extra $75 for out of state transfer. Sigh...

They smell bad. And the low-mag capacity for a gun that size seems ridiculous.

But Flyboy5432H, your's looks smokin'!

No.

The only people that make one is ProMag.....and they really should be named JunkMag.

They suck beyond belief.

When I kept my 995 around the house for HD, the 10-rd mag didn't bother me. I figured 10 rounds of 124gn +P GoldDots delivered with pinpoint accuracy out to 50 yards with utter reliability was fine.
I only sold mine because I walked into a deal on an UZI.
The great thing about the HiPoint is, I didn't mind leaving it in the closet with a trigger lock, while other more expensive firearms were locked in the safe.

No really, for some weird reason, HP only make 10rd mag. And after market mag(promag) sucks.

Not necessarily ugly, but - after close inspection - it is obvious that the stock was designed and created on the The Planet of Apes. The truth is, Mr Heston picked it up and brought it to our civilisation.

After I bought and installed the ATI stock It looked much better ... but I thought the original ugly stock was more ergonomically comfortable. It jams if I dont let the springs do their work by pulling the bolt all the way back and sharply letting go... allowing the first round to sharply sling shot into the chamber. It's a really fun 9mm plinker. Are other guns more reliable?... YES !! ... BUT How could I go wrong at $180 including red dot scope?

And...

Make it reliable, goes bang every time.
Make it accurate, puts the hole where I want out to 100 yards
Make it cheap, other than my optics i'm way under what even the closest competitor (Beretta CX4) comes in at bare bones options.
Make it fun, almost no recoil, fast follow up shots, and just fun to shoot.
Make it cheap to feed, I can load a box of 100 rounds of 9mm for $9.00.

Mine really doesn't have any enhancements that would give it any more practical advantages than the 995 in it's original stock, just tweaked the look a bit.

No the Planet of the Apes rifle has more style than the hi-point. If they ever come out with a .45 I would buy one just to try out. The 9mm carbine cost as much as a 10/22, you really cannot go wrong for a beater rifle.

It is what it is.

Inexpensive
Reliable
Accurate
Fun
Serviceable

Anyone who has claims differently has either
Never owned one. (probable)
Owned a bad one. (rare)
FOS. (very common)

No to HiJack the thread, but you guys with the Hipoint's with the ATI stocks, what is the total length of your weapon. According to their website, with the standard stock its 32.5 inches. If I could get it 30" or under with an ATI stock it would make a perfect trunk/boat/ATV gun for me.
