Ive got a CBR 600 with a problem

My 1998 CBR 600 will run right through first and second gear with no problems at all. But once I hit third and give it gas it sounds like its out of fuel. Jerking and slowing down. Its got fresh gas and the carbs and fuel filter are clean. What else could it be? Is my air to fuel mixture not correct? Could it be the coils? Any help would be great. Thanks.

Wrong main jet? Dirty/debris in carbs. How long have you had it? What is the history of it?

Check the air box. Some riders have been known to remove/modify the air filter/air box just get a "little more" performance out of the engine.

What does the bike do when you go into 4th or 5th gear? Did the problem stay the same or go away?

Ok I fixed it. There were two vacuum tubes that were backwards on the selonoid that lets air into the carb. The float tube is what it was called in the manual, I think... Runs like a champ now.
