CCW reform in San Diego County!

Jay LaSuer is running for Sheriff in 2010, and is a staunch Second Amendment / CCW proponent. He needs our support now to build a war chest.

Unfortunately he is a nutcase and associates with even bigger nutcases. I doubt he will get elected. That said, if I were in SD county I would vote for him.

Mr. LaSuer doesn't need your good wishes or your promise of a future vote so much as he needs your money and your time. He needs to be building a war chest and gathering volunteers.

If this is the type of guy you'd like to see become Sheriff, send him a few bucks.

I agree with you 100%. Congressman Hunter was my first choice among all who declared candidacies for President. I have been a huge Hunter fan for close to 20 years. Of the names I recognize in the list, almost all are of people I respect.

On paper, I usually agree with Mr. LaSuer's bills and votes in the Legislature, but... even amongst Republicans LaSuer was not very effective.... But so what? Right?

On the other end of the spectrum from the Honorable Congressman Hunter is another person listed as a supporter in the quote you provided. This individual and his family are scary. Some examples I can share... threats of homicide against elected officials, legal entanglements and convictions, carrying the torch for tin-foil hat issues into the Capitol itself, ramblings which would make a crazy street bum proud, claims of grandeur (claiming he had a private dinner with the Governor the night before when in fact he was one of about 1000 other folks who paid to eat rubber chicken and hear the Governator speak - and to top it off among those he was bragging to were folks who were at the same dinner!)

I have heard Mr. LaSuer's speak highly of the individual(s) in question, and I have seen/heard LaSuer carry water for these individual(s) in the State Capitol, and seemed genuinely surprised I and others did not stand arm in arm with the individuals in question. To put it mildly, this causes me to question Mr. LaSuer.

I was at best on the fringes of the Sacramento Political scene, but I have been fortunate to know and have worked closely with and been represented by at times by some of the most effective and powerful lobbyists in Sacramento. Folks who are the mouthpieces for companies at the top of the Fortune 500 list in California's capitol. To a person they have nothing positive to say about Mr. LaSuer, especially when they are on the same side... they said they did not want Mr. LaSuer's support, as that takes away credence from their position...

What is sad to me is that LaSuer is CORRECT on so many issues, and that is part of what probably marginalized him in the California legislature and marginalized him in the eyes of California's power brokers, - this I can be proud of - good for him... but to my shame and fear Mr. LaSuer allows himself to be closely associated with people he should not... and supports people he should not... which makes me truly question his judgment.

Perhaps I am being unfair to Mr. LaSuer... but if you knew these folks and then knew of their close relationship with LaSuer you too would scratch your head and at least wonder what the hell was going on there.

As before... all this said.. I would vote for him. He is a died-in-the-wool gun nut! I am concerned that he may also be just plain nuts, or perhaps just a poor judge of character... but I could be wrong and perhaps he knows better than me how nuts these individuals in question are, and he is just playing the sickening game called politics.
