Local Price Check help

I recently picked up a Marlin 917v .17 HMR rifle on a trade. Can someone tell me what would be a good price to sell it? It has a Simmons scope & 1 mag and the stock has a small "scratch".

I fired it today and decided it's not for me and I'm going to stick with my Ruger 10/22. I really want to pick up an AK47 or a shotgun since I can't afford an AR15. However, I may end up selling the G35 to accumulate the funds.

I really have no idea what something like that would go for locally. A quick gunbroker search showed the rifle priced around $200-250 or so. Add another $50-100 for the scope and deduct for being used and I'd say it's in the $300 range.

Normally I'd say check with a pawn shop or gun store, but they always lowball you ridiculously low because they think you're desperate for cash or something.

you could try and sell it craigslist, you just have to list it carefully so as not to advertise it is a gun. Guns on there list for pretty much new prices, if not more, the prices on there are ridiculous.

I've got a very similar rifle in 22mag (25m, sling and 4x Simmons scope) that I've tried to sell for over a year at half what is worth ,$125.

I finally decided to keep it and just stop trying. Someday my daughter may like it.

Your one advantage is it is .17. They seem to sell faster because they are a "hot" new round.

UPS ground in a locked gun case.

Get the full value insured and only ship from the hub downtown.

This limits the looky-loos.

Many, many guns get messed with in transit, so you got to have photographic proof and full insurance to get paid.

My Buckmark got messed with coming here, but it was all there.

Anyone have a Daniel Defense AR15 rail for a 16" barrel (which I believe is the 9.0) that they would like to trade for the rifle??
