Steve, all the model 97s are Premier Grades. The larger model 83 comes in both Premier and Field Grade.

The Premiers are definitely worth the extra $400 or so. The fit and finish is much nicer, IMO.

FA revolvers are the best SA revolvers on the market. You would have to spend big bucks sending your Ruger to a custom smith to equal a Freedom Arms.

Silly me. Why would you own field grade when there's something nicer available?

No question about the Ruger. I will say that my Blackhawk has a much tighter cylinder gap than my Smiths (.002" vs .006" average). They fit them during production and number them so they stick with that specific frame. Nice touch for a mass produced revolver.
