I'll play. Here's my Italian beauty Queen. I call her 'Alessandra', which is supposed to mean "Defender of Mankind". Pretty fitting name if you ask me!

Benelli Nova Tactical with an 18.5" barrel and Ghost Ring Sights. I really need to get a REAL side saddle, a tube extention and a tactical light. There's always something. Hope you guys like her!

Here she is with her other siblings (which remain nameless)

What is the purpose of "slotting the elevator"? I've never seen that before. Thanks.

The old 870's have smooth elevator bill. If a round hoped out of the tube with the bolt closed it was, shall we say, difficult to clear. There was no "easy" way to get that shell back in the tube. The slot allows you to slide a key or some such in and slide the shell back where it belongs. This keeps you from having to pull the magazine spring etc.

On the new 870's there is kind of a rectangular little tab cut in the elevator. If the jam occurs with the new one you can just whack the but against the ground running the slide and it will pop out.

The two modifications were in Soldier of Fortune back in the early 80's.

That is one of the best "tidbits" of information I have gotten from a gun forum. Thanks for sharing!

I did not know about the new set up until I took a Firearms Instructor Class for the Fed. BOP that I worked with. The fellow teaching it was very sharp in that area. No one in the Bureau had ever said a word to me about it before. I tried to remember it with all my students after that as I ended up being the Lead (boss) Instructor for a 300 employee Fed. Prison and on our SORT Teams (SWAT as a M/O instructor. Some used 870's on the team but had little hard core use under stress like I taught.

These appear to be very popular lately. Here's mine.

Probably do the side saddle or stock saddle and sling as well. Gonna change out the bead sight for a fiber optic bead.

The slotted carrier is not the same solution as the "felx Tab" modification which also requires a new breech bolt and slide. The flex tab allows more space between the carrier and the bolt so you can rack back and clear a jam. The tab in the carrier gives and creates some space. The flex tab breech bolt is also cut out on the bottom to creat space.

Cutting that slot is a typical "Bubba" fix and not a solution for a user error when your six is on the line.

My tacti-cool Remington 870 Tactical in A-TACS w/ EOTech 553 (finally found a use for that thing...) and Mesa Tactical 6-Shell Sidesaddle.

Tactical Shotguns

Let the "Mall Ninja" comments start rollin' in.....

Surprisingly, its fast as heck w/ the EOTech.....looks like a shark fin on my gun, but it works.

Thanks! Its a work in progress.....still need a sling for it, and a light mount. Its hard working on a Shotgun and two ARs at the same time. The ARs are getting all the attention right now.
